A friend, Gustav said to me, "the place to save lives is in the field, not an office." I agree. I have been on the battlefield with him. Saved many lives, took many others. But armed men standing guard does not ensure that our children grow up properly. Estelle "Consolation" Tambling
Twenty-Eight · Female · French-American · Nurse
- Hair: Estelle keeps her earthy-brown hair in two large pigtails that extend to her chest, tied roughly at jaw height. Since her discharge from the Navy, she has let it grow longer.
- Eyes: Soft and in a calm expression with light brown pupils. Her gaze has been said to have a soothing effect. Being far-sighted, she uses reading glasses when needed.
- Face: A sharply-defined face proudly declares her European heritage. Much of the tanned skin she had during her time in the Middle East and Africa has faded, halfway to her normally pale skin. Though light and often hidden by creams, the signs of stress in a hospital and a battlefield have manifested in a few creases above her brow.
- Body: Standing at 5'7'', she can easily tower over her female colleagues. She sports a moderate build, honed by her years in service.
- Clothing: Estelle prefers to dress conservatively and plainly, used to the style she wore in the military, though she has loosened up a bit and does permit a few bits of jewelry. For the most part, this tends to consist of a blouse, dress or jumper, and sometimes a light jacket. Her clothing color preference is royal purple.
appearance - General: Ever-smiling, Estelle seems to be a fount of endless cheer, seemingly calm, composed, respectful, extremely patient, and positive no matter the circumstances. Her calming nature and desire to converse was often called upon to soothe patients and wounded soldiers. Even against those who she dislikes or those who seem to be disrespectful, she still smiles. She enjoys talking to and taking care of others, and especially enjoys working with children.
But just because she smiles doesn't mean she's happy. She will hide when she's upset or incensed and continue smiling, although the rest of her body may not act in a way that matches her current expression. Beneath the smiling facade is a woman embittered by her years in service, searching for a sign that she can still do some lasting good in the civilian world.

personality - History: Estelle was born into a family with both a medical tradition and a Naval tradition. The younger twin and second of four daughters, she set her sights on becoming a nurse early in her life. To ease the financial burden on her family, she joined the Navy along with her sister Stella. There, they got their medical education as well as trained to be sailors, eventually being deployed abroad on three tours of duty, for both military and humanitarian efforts. Estelle's first deployment was to 6th fleet and her second deployment was with the 5th fleet, as part of CTF-150. Most recently, she was assigned to the 7th fleet, and became enamored with Japan, prompting her to stay in the country.
During her years in service, she was often noted for her bedside manner. Her cheerful smile and and soothing presence often lead to her being assigned to care for the terminally ill and mortally wounded, then later speaking with their families. While serving in the 5th Fleet, Estelle took command of a captured merchant vessel that was converted into a hospital ship, which was colloquially (and in some official reports) named "Consolation", a joke referencing how her grandfather, P.S. Tambling, commanding a hospital ship of the same name during WWII. Eventually, Estelle became synonymous with the ship she commanded, where sending the wounded to the "Consolation" could mean either the ship or her commander.
Watching people's lives slip through her hands took its toll, and when she finally was discharged, she looked for a position that allowed her to ply her trade but in a place of life and growth, not death. - Family/Relatives

background - Position: Nurse
- Experience: Estelle served in the Navy as a corpsman for six years after training in medicine for four years, tending to sailor and civilian, adult and child alike. From taking care of a carrier's crew to field medicine on the battlefield, she is prepared for pretty much anything, though she hopes her more esoteric skills will not need to come into play. Despite offers from other hospitals, she looked for a position at Fukui, where she believed she could do the most good by tending to students instead of the elderly. She is multilingual, as part of her service in foreign nations.
