The lock clicked as Kyoko turned the key to her new home. She pulled out the key and turned the handle to door number one-oh-five. The door swung open to reveal the darkened room and Kyoko took up her luggage once more and entered. It was a simple room designed for two people and offered the basic needs. There was no one else here at the moment, which Kyoko was thankful for. Moving here was stressful enough without having to play twenty-questions with a stranger. The more Kyoko avoided such things the happier she was. The blue haired teen brought her stuff over to her side of the room and dropped the bag down on her new bed. She left the wheeled backpack on the floor and just took a moment sit down on the bed with her bag and look about the room. This was suppose to be her new home. She was away from her family, her father... this should feel like a moment of freedom and independence. Then why did Kyoko feel like she went from one prison to another. A temporary holding facility for her to wait in before she was sent to her new prison.
Kyoko sighed and shook the feelings away. She didn't feel it right of herself to make that comparison. Her father was only looking out for her of course. He was her father, he knew what was best for her. She was just a teenager, what did she know about life? And this was a great school with a fantastic reputation, and she was here to paint. She did love to paint. Turning a blank canvas into a window to imagination was thrilling for her, silly as it might sound. Though even painting had lost it's appeal with her father hovering over her. While he had sent her to this school, it was not so she could become a great painter. She wasn't an idiot, she knew he just wanted her out of the way until she was old enough to get married to the man of his choice. He even sent her to an all-girls school so she wouldn't be tempted away by some boy in her class. Kyoko didn't see that being a problem though. She had never had much interest in that for whatever reason.
Well, maybe it was for the best then that her father would be choosing for her. She didn't seem to have any idea what she was doing in that department, so why not? She would marry someone rich with connections who could provide for her and their family for the rest of her life. She'd have everything she could need or want. How could anything be wrong with that? And yet, something about it all just felt very wrong. Kyoko couldn't put her finger on any logical reasoning to form an argument around. She just knew in her heart that it was very much not something she wanted. The entire idea repulsed her and made her want to cry, yet she couldn't figure out why.
"What is wrong with me?"
The question hung unanswered in the empty room. Kyoko sighed again, feeling foolish. Her father looked out for her and got her into a great school. She should be ecstatic and had no reason to feel so depressed about everything. Kyoko tried to push everything to the back of her mind and just focus on the good things. She was being ridiculous, there was nothing wrong here in the slightest. The teen got to her feet once more and turned to her luggage to begin unpacking. She was going to attend class in this great school and have fun painting for the next four years, before moving on to the next great stage of her life. It was going to be a good time, lots of fun!
Kyoko sighed once again.
