"Some places are not themselves, They are the people that they're filled with." Eleanor Rosaline Harper Sixteen · Female · German/English · Illustration/Writing

[li]Face: She has a soft, round face that is distinctly feminine. Her jaw is slightly squared and her chin tapers down into a gentle point. Her eye lashes are naturally long and of a darker shade of blonde than her hair. Her eyebrows are also a darker blonde than her hair, but lighter than her lashes. Her lips are full and naturally a light pink in color. She will sometimes wear make-up, though only a small amount. She goes for a more "natural" make-up look.

[li]Body: Ellie's 5ft.6in, making her a bit taller than most girls her age. She's also quite curvy, with wide hips and a cup size that's near a high C. Due to her time on the family ranch and her daily light exercise regime, her legs and arms are moderately toned. But overall, her appearance is one of softness and curves.

[li]Clothing: For clothing, Ellie likes to wear simple, but cute clothes. She usually wears a pair of boot-cut jeans and a girly top. She adores flouncy knee and ankle length skirts and will often switch between those and jeans. She also adores t-shirts with cute or odd prints on them. She likes mixing soft pastels with warmer, earthier tones.
As for footwear, well. Being from Texas, and having been raised on a ranch, she does own a pair of cowgirl boots. They're a warm chestnut brown, not overly etched or embellished, and obviously well used. She makes sure to take good care of them. She also has a good pair of running sneakers and a pair of sandals for the warmer months.
For winter, though, all her clothes are decidedly more earthy in tone. Maybe with accent colors of pastel, but overall, she prefers light grays, browns, greens and blues for her winter wear. She also wears A LOT of layers. Once it starts to get chilly, she bundles up with scarves, jackets, and cute beanies. Long johns, gloves and coats follow when it gets really cold.

appearance
- General: Ellie loves being around people. Coming from a rather large and involved family, she's not used to being alone. At her home, even when she's by herself in a room, there's always the knowledge that someone could walk in at any moment. So she's not bothered by being surrounded by a lot of people. In fact, she prefers it, if she's being totally honest. She also doesn't mind being the center of attention, when it happens, but she doesn't go out of the way to seek it either.
She's pretty extroverted, and can be rather loud and rambunctious in her actions when in the right atmosphere. In general, she has a pretty laid back personality. She's very open and friendly when interacting with other people. Most people seem to automatically feel at ease around her, due to her rather relaxed attitude. She gets along with most individuals, and it actually takes quite a bit to anger her. - Things Ellie Enjoys:
- Crisp, exciting scents. For example: freshly cut grass, just squeezed orange juice, cookies right out of the oven, etc.
- Good home southern cooking. It may not be the healthiest of foods, but boy does she like it!
- Warmth and warm places. Long hot showers, baths, patches of sunlight, she loves them all. Her favorite seasons are obviously spring and summer.
- Books and reading. She is an avid reader and can often be seen reading when she's not interacting with people.
- And, of course, drawing, painting, and utilizing other forms of media to bring the images in her mind to life.
- Crisp, exciting scents. For example: freshly cut grass, just squeezed orange juice, cookies right out of the oven, etc.
- Being alone. As in, no other person around at all. She does need her "me" moments, but only for short periods of time. She thrives in the company of others.
- Having to remember to keep up with the medication she's required to take.
- The cold and cold places. Like dark and damp vegetable cellars, cold rooms, industrial freezers, etc. Her least favorite seasons are fall and winter.
- Hospitals and hospital like settings. It's not that she hates what they do, per se, just the whole atmosphere that hospitals have.
- The sound of her own heartbeat. Which stems from her own dislike of her condition.
[li]Ellie's Habits:
- When thinking about something, she has a habit of twirling strands of her hair around her index finger.
- When focusing on a task, she will often absently hum or whistle a tune to herself. (She's a natural alto and has a decent voice, but she's never really had any formal training.)
- She'll often bite her nails when nervous. So her nails are always short and somewhat ragged. It's actually one of the reasons why she never paints them.
- Some of the medication she has to take makes her super sleepy. So she's gotten into the bad habit of falling asleep most anywhere. Especially if she's warm and comfortable.
[li]Ellie's Positive Traits:
- Very open and friendly
- Not afraid of hard work, or something that'll get her dirty.
- Is not afraid to stand up for her friends. If she thinks something isn't right, she'll step in and let it be known.
[li]Ellie's Negative Traits:
- Sometimes, she doesn't get angry over things that she probably should. She'll often bottle her anger up instead of letting it out properly. She'll just often shrug things off, until they reach a boiling point. This can lead to outbursts at the most inopportune times.
- She can be a terrible procrastinator. Especially when it's something she DOESN'T want to do.
- Due to her condition, she needs to pay a bit more attention to her health than the average person. Unfortunately, if someone needs her help with something, she'll often neglect herself. So, she often puts other people's needs over own.
[li]Your Own Section:
- She's afraid of being a burden on people. So she usually hides her condition from her friends, not wanting them to worry about her. Since she looks and acts pretty healthy, it's not a difficult thing to do.
- Another big fear of hers is having another heart attack. She feels like it's inevitable, and that it will be her last when it does happen.
- Ellie is actually a pretty good singer, though she's not one to really flaunt it.
personality
- History: Ellie grew up on an expansive, family owned ranch in the heart of Texas Hill Country. The Harper's Herd Ranch has been in her family for a great many generations, existing all the way back to when Texas first became a state. It sits at roughly 126,000 acres of land, comfortably sitting on the lower end of the larger sized ranches in Texas. Most of Ellie's extended family, along with her core family, live and work on the ranch. It's main focus is on cattle and horses, and it's become quite famous for it's breeding program of longhorns and racehorses. The ranch also produces oil and natural gases and the family leases some of it's land for wild game hunting purposes. There's even a modest farm on their land, though that is mostly for family purposes more than for profit.
Growing up in this environment, it's a wonder that Ellie didn't turn out more wild than she actually is. But her family is rather strict, and there is the expectation that ALL family members, if living on the land, contribute to the care of it. When a child is old enough to walk and hold things, they're helping out with the ranch and farm work. It's hard work, but it's what she was raised on.
When not working, Ellie played with all her cousins and siblings. They'd run around the property, laughing and being generally active youth. They all learned how to ride horses, how to shoot, how to hunt, and various other activities, all closely watched by the adults until they became older.
Her life was typical of her family, until one unfortunate day when she was 8 years old. She'd been outside practicing a few rodeo rope tricks, when a sudden pain in her chest hit her like a sledgehammer. She passed out and the next thing she knew she was in a hospital bed. Come to find out, she had a congenital heart condition that had gone undiagnosed until then. She'd had surgery to correct it, but her life was forever changed.
After that, she was made to do less strenuous activities around the ranch, though she was told to do light exercises by the doctors. This was the time period when her love of reading and drawing blossomed. Despite much worry, she seemed to be doing okay after the surgery and life resumed as usual.
She went through public schools and got through her first year of high school just fine. But right at the end of the school year, while on a school trip, on one unusually hot spring day, she had a heart attack. Luckily, she'd already taken all of her finals, but unluckily she'd needed more surgery. Due to complications, she had to stay at the hospital her whole summer vacation and into the beginning of her second high school year.
This was where she experienced her first romantic encounter. A Japanese girl around her age, staying in the long-care ward of the hospital. Harumi Itou was from Osaka, and her Japanese was in the distinct Kansai-ben dialect. Clicking well, they became fast friends, and eventually girlfriends. It was from her that Ellie began to learn Japanese (with that Kansai-ben accent). It was also from her that she heard about Fukui Akademy. Harumi loved her drawings, and would often mention the famous school as a place to hone her skills.
Due to costs and a need for more specialized care, Harumi eventually had to move back to Japan. It was sad, but they separated on good terms. Harumi's parting words were about Fukui Academy. Thinking hard about it, Ellie decided that life was too short for her to not pursue her interests. She brought it up to her parents, who were understandably reluctant. But she pushed, and they said that if she could pass the entrance exam and got accepted, they'd let her go.
She studied hard and ended up passing and even getting a scholarship. True to their word, her parents allowed her to go. They made her promise to keep up with her medication and not push herself too hard. Her medical records were sent to the school, and the medical staff was informed of her condition. Everything was set up to her parent's satisfaction.
And so, she transferred to Fukui Academy.

background
- Grade Level: Second Year
Her ultimate goal is to write and create her own stories. She wishes to try a great many ways of presenting them. Through graphic novels, perhaps some animations, or through intricate picture books with no words. She has yet to discover and explore the options available to her, but she is excited to find and try them out.
In the end, she simply wishes to improve and to learn.
Romantically speaking, she's not thought too deeply about her future. She does like being in a relationship, but she's currently very much a creature of the present. So, while not actively seeking a romantic encounter, she's also not against being in one either. What will be, will be.
