Ruined...
Well and truly ruined...
Amelia's heart felt heavy. Her chest felt light, yet an odd sensation of fluttering also filled it. The way that Ami had casually accepted it... Well, no, not casually, yet... Amelia had expected a different reaction. To hear words that...
Just as she began to think about it, Ami quickly spoke again while adjusting her dress. A hand raised, placing itself on one of Ami's. Her chest felt hollow. Slowly, her fingers moved to the strap underhand and slid it up the smaller girl's shoulders. And then she simply stood there. Quiet, pensive. A troubled look was on her face for the first time that Ami would ever see. But her eyes were not looking at her maid, not right now. Instead, she was simply looking at the dressing room door.
"Other... obligations..." The words felt like lies on her tongue. Because they were. Ha...
"Yes... Let's go." She walked through the door, not waiting for Ami. Not dragging her along. She simply strode out of the store and signaled to her chauffeur to start the car. From there she would simply get in the car. Not saying a word. She would wait for Ami to get in and then tell the driver to return home for the day.

Ah, good... Ami was let off the hook, for now.
With a gentle nod, her posture relaxed, and she went about finishing putting her dress back on. The lacing was a tad complicated and, thanks to her mistress' impatience, Ami had to rush in fastening it again, but she was used to it since she made the dress herself. Leaving the other dress that she never got a chance to change into behind, the girl was out of the dressing room and following Amelia toward the store's exit about eight seconds behind, awkwardly fast-walking to catch up.
She did catch up by the time the car pulled up, upon which she circled around to the other side and slid on in. This ride home was sure to carry a strange atmosphere, she figured, now that a certain line had been crossed... Ami couldn't help but wonder if this would impact their relationship from now on. No, that was a silly thing to ponder. For better or worse, unless they could somehow manage to forget about it completely, they would never be quite the same as they had been for so many years.
Whether or not that was to be a good or a bad thing... Well, that heavily depended on where it went from here.
Ami sighed internally, sat up straight in her seat on the other side of the vehicle, and idly fiddled with the collar around her neck. Goodness, what a trip this had been.
