Winter Musical/Ballet - Right after the Autumn Theatre Production is the Winter one, and is generally considered the more 'fun' one to work on. After a bit of a debate, a musical adaptation of "Little Match Girl" was decided on. Due to how late the decision was made, production proper has been a bit on the rushed and frantic side, even though the first shows are slated for after the Winter Holidays.
Winter Holiday Concert - The Winter Holiday Concert is held just before the Winter Holidays and is a equally a showcase for the Music Composition students as well as the underclassmen. Like the Autumn Concert, it takes place over three weeks on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with each day showcasing a different set of composers. This of course hasn't stopped the students from doing impromptu performances throughout the campus.
Painting and Sculpture Expo - To not conflict with the Holiday Concert (and with improvements to the outdoor galleries), the Visual Arts department was able to move the showcase for the Painting and Sculpture majors to after the Winter Holidays. The expo runs over three days, with students signing up for specific booths where they can display their work. Weather-permitting, some of the booths are in the School's Garden as well.
Christmas Village - The Fukui Christmas Village was an event that was started only a few years ago and is hosted and coordinated by the Culinary Arts department. Originally starting off as one of the smaller, periodic bake sales that the department usually hosted, the increased demand during winter holidays resulted a vicious cycle of expanding the bake sale to meet the demand only to find the demand increasing. This culminated in the official launching of the Fukui Christmas Village, guided largely by the foreign faculty who were familiar with the concept.
The Village is run over two weekends prior to Christmas proper and is held in the main courtyard. In addition to the baked goods, there are other prepared foods as well as handicrafts from the Visual Arts department. In lieu of a Christmas tree, there is also a holiday-themed statue made by the Sculpture majors. In a major change (as well as a few donors and outside sponsors chipping in), the Village runs for a few weeks into the New Year as well.
Recreational Area/School Garden - Over the winter months, the Gardening Club keeps themselves busy, planting and tending to new flowerbeds in preparation for the spring, as well as setting things up for the Painting and Sculpture Expo.
Asuwa River Park/The Penguin Cafe - No stranger to the winter months, the Penguin Cafe has refreshed its seasonal offerings and remains a place for students to hang out and unwind, away from the madness on the school campus.
Upcoming events
▼
Given the start of the new academic year, there is a lull in the events that Fukui Academy as new students acclimate to their new environment. That doesn't mean there is a lull in activity - on the contrary, the spring season is full of planning and preparations for the two upcoming events, especially from upperclassmen who have been working during the winter on their portfolios to present in the summer. Not that first-years, should they be talented or ambitious enough, are excluded.
