Novalie Mårtensson Thirty · Female · Swedish · Dorm Advisor Hair: Novalie has naturally blonde hair that is fairly with with a soft, wavy texture. Finding no need to cut it, her hair is usually at a length ranging from waist to hip length. Her hair is cut strategically in layers to thin her mane and avoid having to fight with her it on a daily basis. Eyes: Novalie’s eyes are sharp and shape and dark blue in color, almost appearing black when not in direct light. Face: Despite her mannerisms, Novalie has a fairly feminine look to her. She is fair-skinned with fine features. Thin brows, handsomely wide lips, and a sharp, pointed nose. Body: The first thing about Novalie that most people notice is her height. She is quite tall compared to those around her, standing at 5’10”. She has a lean figure, which is often hidden by her clothing, and broad shoulders. To describe her as somewhat lanky would also wouldn’t be far off, but she wears it well. Clothing: While working, Novalie opts to keep her attire as professional as possible. She can normally be spotted wearing some type of button-up and fitted slacks, occasionally dressing it up with a few neutral accessories like the occasional tie, and more often than not a dark colored cardigan or sweater. Her appearance outside of work isn’t too different, but sometimes she might wear a t-shirt and jeans. Her wardrobe consists of what some might call “masculine styled” clothing as she never wears skirts or dresses, citing their discomfort and forced vulnerability as her reason to avoid them. appearance General: Novalie is probably one of the least friendly individuals at Fukui Academy. She is quite strict as she takes her job VERY seriously. While she isn’t necessarily mean, she is definitely a tough nut to crack and makes it very obvious that she isn’t around to make friends. Most students will come across her frequently and get to know her well enough to know how much of a hard-ass she is. Novalie has a serious case of resting bitch face and is seen glaring more often than not, but this is regardless of her mood. The people around her might think it is simply a myth, but she is capable of being in a good mood, although this is actually pretty rare. Due to her insomnia and the stress of her job, Novalie is easily angered, but not to an aggressive point. She manages to stay collected in the eyes of others. She is blunt and not afraid to let students or her fellow staff members know how she feels and if she is annoyed with them. Surprisingly, Novalie has a bit of a soft spot for her Fukui family (both staff and students). Although blunt and sometimes even rude to those around her, she remains concerned for the safety and wellbeing for the people at FA and won’t hesitate to put herself or reputation in harm’s way to defend them. But even so, she’s still not looking to be friendly. Outside of work, and even inside at sometimes, Novalie is a pretty quiet individual. She usually keeps to herself when her job doesn’t require otherwise and enjoys what many would call “feminine” pastimes; mostly things that require working with her hands and some peace and quiet. Novalie realized her attraction to girls in primary school but never acted on it and has never been questioned about it. Novalie has never dated anyone but has had many close relationships. Both her office and home are filled with potted plants, some edible. Novalie had a few pet fish but learned the hard way that she would not have enough time on her hands to take care of them. She is skilled in ceramics work, which she learned at university. She is often misunderstood due to still having a bit of an accent, which makes her job harder. She can speak Swedish, some Finnish, English, and Japanese. Her favorite genres of music are blues, jazz, and soft rock. personality History: Novalie Mårtensson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, the only child of a single mother. Her mother was a cocaine addict who only managed to stay clean with pregnant under the supervision of her own parents. Once Novalie was born, her mother unfortunately cut all ties with her family, but left Novalie in the care of her parents who were happy to care for the newborn child. As a child, Novalie was quite the simple person. She enjoyed playing outdoors, usually with her grandmother who introduced her to the joys of gardening. It was a loving home where she was given all that she needed and much of what she wanted, although she was never the materialistic type. Once she entered school, Novalie’s personality began to develop more. Since she mostly kept to herself before then and only enjoyed the company of her grandparents who lived in an isolated area, she wasn’t too socialized. But it soon became apparent that Novalie did not enjoy the company of many others. She kept few friends, barely maintaining to keep up with them, but she never seemed lonely despite this fact. She was a very studious young girl, and as she got older, she only became more hardworking. Once she reached lower secondary school, Novalie began to take interest in music after blindly signing up for a music class once she noticed that she hadn’t been involved in many after school activities like most children were. At age 10, she began to study the cello and was a quick learner. Since she had found something she was good at and admittedly enjoyed, she stuck with it. At age 15, Novalie was offered the rare chance to study abroad due to her talents in music at Fukui Academy. She was adamant about leaving, but she did admit that it would be good for her success in the long run, and after a bit of convincing from her grandparents, she left for Japan. Her time studying at Fukui was much like her time back home. Again, she kept to herself mostly, but managed to learn Japanese fluently before graduating. She was successful academically and admire by her peers and even teachers for her unwavering work ethics. In no time, she graduated and continued her education at a fine arts university in Tokyo where she earned degrees in composition and jazz studies. After finishing school, Novalie returned back home to live with her grandparents. There, she took a job at a local theater, but only to have money coming in to support herself. She was mostly content with being in the presence of her family again. After about 3 years, Novalie’s grandparents began noticing that her motivation was fading. She had a job, but it was clear that she took little interest in it. She had enjoyed her time in Japan and spoke of it almost everyday, always saying how she wished she could show the country to her grandparents, but they weren’t interested in travelling. They felt partially responsible for her current state, being stuck in Stockholm, and they wanted to push her to find what she wanted to do. The perfect opportunity came when Novalie told them about a job offer she got over dinner. It was a position at Fukui Academy, and even though she claimed she was going to decline the offer, days passed and she never did. Although hesitant, they tried to convince her to take it, but of course this time, Novalie was a lot more stubborn. She was an adult now and did not have schooling to list as her reason to leave. On top of that, her grandparents weren’t getting any younger… She wanted to stay. However… She silently took the offer and made her way back to Fukui within a month. As usual, her grandparents were right.
