oh na na, just be careful, na na love ain’t simple, na na promise me no promises Sae Makigami EIGHTEEN · FEMALE · JAPANESE · DANCE (HAIR) Naturally ash brown, usually grows to mid-back length before she cares to cut it. Constant athletic activity has deemed it necessary for her to keep it tied in a high ponytail most of the time— but stray locks tend to fall loose. (EYES) Brown like her hair. Large and expressive, gentle more often than not but fierce in the face of competition. They betray every emotion: soulful and genuine. Sae believes in every word she says and her unwavering gaze reflects such. (FACE) Possesses a sort of boyish touch to her features best accompanied by big, cheeky grins. She wears confidence as comfortably as she wears her own skin, smiling boldly and shamelessly like the free-spirited daredevil that she is. (BODY) Just about five foot nine inches— perhaps a little less— and athletic with a lean musculature. She has very little bust to speak of, but between the calisthenics she has to do and the basketball she likes to play Sae counts herself fortunate she doesn't have large breasts. (CLOTHING) A largely casual selection of plain clothes and athletic wear. One would sooner see the end of the world before seeing Sae in a dress— or any formal wear for that matter. She is particularly fond of leather jackets with tall collars. appearance Not the type to leave things unsaid, Sae's boyish mannerisms and tendency to go on wild tears hides a soft, romantic, and deeply thoughtful side to her. An outgoing spirit whose devil-may-care nature leads often to mischief, she is known for her spontaneous decisions and competitive streak, but also for being a bit of a klutz.  Her talents lie in the physical: Dance, basketball, track— she loves expression in movement, but enjoys even more the electrifying feeling from doing the risky or 'impossible'. Laughter is her cure-all, and despite her constant denial she possesses a kind and selfless spirit. Infamous as she may be for being a loud, rowdy troublemaker, Sae is very much capable of quiet understanding when appropriate. In truth, her shenanigans are often means to cheer others up. Sae's Habits Suddenly disappearing to pull off some inane stunt. Eating everything in her proximity that is edible. Pulling other people into impromptu outings. Saying what she means, meaning what she says. Sleeping so heavy the world's end can't wake her. Steals food. Sometimes without knowing it. She's a creature of instinct. Sae's Positive Traits Good-natured. Outgoing. Honest and forward. Romantic. Understanding. Fearless. Resourceful. Adventurous. Sae's Negative Traits Clumsy. Impatient. Reckless. Mercurial. Gluttonous. Irresponsible. Persistent to a fault. No concept of hierarchy, thus is often disrespectful. Misc. Loves the ocean, the beach, and cycling. A good day is when she gets to see all three with someone. Oddly fascinated by jelly with little pieces of fruit in them. Favourite food is spicy hotpot. Weirdly enough, has masterful grillmanship. Is still upset she wasn't allowed to jump off the roof with her homemade parachute. She swears up and down that it was 100% safe. Snuck a bag of 120 live ladybugs into the painting studio once, the other 30 went missing somewhere along the way. Favourite scent is 'citrus'. personality Born and raised in the outer areas of Tokyo, Sae's family was about as poor as they could be to start. She fondly remembers their old, rickety house with broken floorboards and creaky wooden doors— it was often cold given the house's age, but her family brought all the warmth she needed. They were the resilient sort: Smiling through hardship, weathering storms together, everyone worked hard so that Sae, as an only child, could live a life more comfortable than theirs. Her father worked tirelessly, but reminded the family that he cared by leaving little pranks and endearing messages around the house: a treasure hunt Sae grew up with and adapted into her own life. Her mother, ever tolerant and kind, would often spoil her with hotpot after a good day at school; Sae's grades were not stellar, but both parents were proud nonetheless. Among all family members Sae loved her grandparents the most, and they in turn loved and supported her growth as an individual. She was always a sporty one, and her grandfather often joked how all of his money would go towards her becoming an olympic medalist. When he passed, Sae contemplated on working towards that dream, but found she had a greater affinity for dance instead. Goodness knows they continue to struggle to pay for her tuition at Fukui, but Sae was never one to let them down. Though she detests work, her natural knack for dancing has allowed her to stay safely in the good graces of her teachers. At least for the moment. Time and time again her parents would receive calls of complaints from the school about their daughter. Too wild, too much a prankster— but they were never anything but proud of her in their weekly calls. "Try the parachute again next time when they're not looking", her father would say, and she would hear her mother laughing in the background. She would often find herself longing for that familial warmth at Fukui. Everyone seemed so... muted with their desires. And so Sae tries to befriend every soul she sees: It is something she does as much for herself as it is for others.
