Hard! Rock! Hallelujah!
Demons and angels.. oh, sorry, did you have a question? Matylda Sudakov-Oka FIFTEEN· female· russo-finnish· drawing - Hair: Shoulder length locks with slight bangs and light brunette in color. Usually it's just allowed to hang a bit unkempt. Sometimes she'll wear a pin or something, but that's usually about as much attention as her hair gets.
- Eyes: Matylda's eyes are yellowish hazel with a tinge of gold, and can look more the latter depending on the lighting. Often they're seen behind her glasses, which she wears for reading and doing fine detail work on her sketches.
- Face: A decidedly round face with a small nose is what you get with Matylda, which added to her short hair creates a very boyish look. Often she can be seen with a happy smile or grin on her face, and her ever playful eyes hint at an inherently energetic nature.
- Body: Matylda is fairly short at just 5'0" even, and a slender build that makes her look a little younger than she actually is. Perhaps wirey is a good word to describe her, in that she does a fair amount of exercise to work off that extra energy. She's not exactly got muscles, per se, but her activity does show in her physique.
- Clothing: Matylda's taste in clothes is rather simple and boils down to a couple of factors. Firstly (and most importantly) whatever is both practical and comfortable will win out no matter how unfashionable it may be. Secondly it should ideally be very reasonably priced if not cheap, since she tends to kind of turn her nose up to anything she deems 'too expensive'. The most formal she gets is soft button up shirts under a jacket or sweater with a flowy skirt to go with it. More commonly it amounts to a long t-shirt with shorts or that same kind of skirt. For shoes she is even less picky and tends to wear whatever athletic shoes or flats she could find on clearance.
appearance - General: As a rule Matylda does genuinely like people, but she often worries about what she ought to say and whether it will at all be intelligible in Japanese. Try as she might she hasn't ever really been able to shake that Finnish accent. As a result of this uncertainty and generally not wanting to offend people she tends to be fairly quiet at first. She's not going to shrink away from others, just be awfully quiet while shooting glances to see what they're up to. On top of that she's liable to be listening carefully for an opening to join a conversation, but her conversational skills are awkward in any situation.
She wants people to be happy, too, so she'll go about quietly doing things to try and help even when no request was made. It's all an art to making the atmosphere as beautiful as possible! Speaking of art, when she gets an inspiration she'll inevitably pull out her sketch pad and begin working on it no matter where she happens to be. From her experience an idea postponed is an idea lost, and you never know which idea will earn you success!
Aside from art she enjoys just being around other people even if she doesn't say much at first. The atmosphere is much lovelier if she's able to feel the warmth of distant companionship. She'd love to have some closer companionship of course, but that's going to take some work. Those who are capable of engaging her in conversation are liable to get gradually more details out of her until she's fully conversational. For her a sign of trust is physical contact, so she can be seen trying to hold hands, grabbing arms or even hugging girls she's just acquaintances with. - Things Matylda Enjoys

- Matylda's quirks!
- She's often seen carrying around a school bag containing all her drawing tools (colored pencils, erasers, rulers, pens, etc.), headphones and a music player full of Lordi and other Scandinavian metal music.
- If she's afraid of anything, it's making a total fool of herself by hilariously mispronouncing something in another language on account of her accent.
- Despite this she's actually fairly good with working out the grammar and pieces of foreign languages and can switch between the ones she knows at the drop of a hat.
personality - History: Matylda is probably the only Finnish girl in all of Fukui city, let alone the school itself. How she came to attend the prestigious academy isn't all that complicated despite how it might sound. She was born to Russo-Finnish parents in Helsinki, though her Finnish father turned out to not be too good of an influence on the family and was soon out of the picture. By the time that she was barely old enough for kindergarten her mother had met the love of her life - a Japanese language professor encountered in a chance meeting on the train. From Kindergarten on Matylda was enrolled in special international schools where she could learn both Finnish and Japanese. Despite the bilingual upbringing she recognized her pronunciation was different than her step-dad's. Hence she was embarrassed to speak Japanese in front of him, especially when he had a tendency to overzealously teach her proper enunciation.
By the time that she was in middle school she'd begun to take any art class she could, having realized she had some talent for it. Be it at school, after school or in a local art studio, she'd be there if there were a chance to learn more. Her big moment came when a small local metal band held a fan-design contest for their next album cover. Matylda secretly had listened to all their music and jumped at the chance to create a cover for them; she got so invested in it that all her work turned out metal.
Though she won the contest (and backstage passes for their show!) Matylda's teachers were concerned for her. After a meeting with her parents they worked things out.. but then came the bombshell that her dad was going to take a job in Tokyo. Her family left Finland, and she was filled with anxiety about transferring to a Japanese school. It'd be her first year of high school and she wasn't too thrilled about having to learn a brand new system of behavior while also not having art to fall back on. She was surprised, then, to learn she'd been granted admission to an academy based in the arts and which her mother's friend had worked at. Since then Matylda's been attending Fukui and loving the international feel of it. - Family/Relatives
