Valerie Belrose
14 · Female · Caucasian · Theater Production
- Hair: Valerie has thick green hair, with shoulder length bangs, and a green ponytail that extends to her waist.
- Eyes: Valerie has relatively pretty eyes, with a bit of natural shadow over it.
- Face: She has a narrow face, that gives her a cute librarian or cute secretary type look to it.She has notably clear skin.
- Body: Valerie has a slender body and relatively, but aside from her average sized breasts, she doesn't look like she'll develop much in way of curves. She's somewhat tall for her age, at 5' 4"
- Clothing: Valerie tends to dress in normal to modest clothing, tending towards buisiness casual.
appearance - General: Valerie is a girl who had to grow up fast, so she could be the only adult in the room. Faced with 'useless' parents who barely bothered to cook and shop... and even then, only when Val wasn't able to do so, she had to be the parent to her younger siblings.
As a result, despite being 14, Valerie comes across more like a workaholic adult. Valerie is responsible, trustworthy, and industrious. She can come across as stoic, able to take whatever chaos comes her way with only apparent annoyance. Valerie has a tendency to look out for other's wellbeing. Those who seem week or need help can expect a motherly helping hand, and it's to people like these and her friends who may see her warmer, more caring side. She, however, is a stickler for the rules, and can be a stick in the mud.
Valerie sees her art as something to fill time she doesn't have duties, something that come between whatever else. A short rest. But she truly loves her art, seeing it as a momentary escape between chaos.
Despite her seeming composure, Valerie's more dysfunctional than she lets out. Without her younger siblings to take care of, Valeire seems to fill a disproportionate amount of time finding various causes and tasks to accomplish, leaving little time for herself. Indeed, to be honest, she really doesn't know how to handle free time, and left with nothing to do, will mostly start planning what she needs to do next. This, of course, stems from her having little of it to begin with.
She also is starting to show cracks from stress. She may overreact to silliness, or loss of order, since she tends not to feel like she has control over her life. - Things Valerie Enjoys

personality - History: From Oregon, Valerie was the oldest of four kids, with a pair of dysfunctional, neglectful parents named Gregory and Diane, the sort that politicians rail against when they discuss cutting benefits for the poor. Vaguely aware that this wasn't the way things were supposed to be, she decided from a young age that she'd do whatever she could for her siblings, so as to at least make sure they had something approximating a childhood.
Thus began a story of a girl who had to grow up fast, so she could be the adult in the house. Her parents could barely be trusted to cook and shop; most the other household duties fell on poor Valarie, who had to raise herself and her three younger sibling, Samuel, Marian, and Todd. At the cost of any real childhood for Valerie, she was able to provide some stability for her siblings, and keep the house from being a total wreck. At the same time, this minor sense of stability made the failure of her parents less obvious to child protective services, mistaking what victories Valerie won for her parents. What little time she had for herself, she watched television. Since their package had no cartoons, she often watched theater on public access.
Despite her best efforts to 'provide' for her brothers and her sister, she was only a kid. The fact she'd filled the shoes her parents should have to any real extent for so long was impressive. But she wasn't perfect. There were cracks in what she was able to provide and maintain, and the killing blow was that a few teachers noted that Valerie seemed to be asking the questions parents would, and their parents did little more than drive and pickup the kids.
So the rusty wheels of bureaucracy finally turned, and an inspection revealed the truth: that the Belrose household essentially was de facto ran by a girl who had only recently turned fourteen. Said fourteen year old girl, for all her sweat and toil, was barely managing to keep the place in somewhat respective shape.
Needless to say, it went poorly. Child Protective Services kicked in, and the four Belrose children were taken from their homes. Worse, it seemed that they were recieving only child placements, seperating them. Needless to say, this was an emotional low point for Valerie, who'd toiled all her life to prevent this kind of outcome.
A social worker had seen her art, which despite, or in some senses because, her limited time to work on it, given the raw talent it showed, and given her school district's odd policy of teaching Japanese from a young age, a tool percieved to give a unique advantage due to its relative rarity, one of the social workers who was aware of it encouraged her to apply to Fukui, as she was used to managing people, and knew she liked theater.
