Fue was aware of Moriko's focused attention on her face, but she didn't think anything of it exactly. Maybe Moriko just wanted to see how to pronounce the dessert correctly. It certainly couldn't be anything else, though maybe Fue wouldn't mind something more. She shoved that thought way down deep. It was only day one, she shouldn't be thinking about such things so soon, Moriko would probably think it was weird to go too quick. So no thoughts about faces and mouths and anything about how they could come together. She had held Moriko's hand and that was amazing. It would satisfy for current level.
Fue was slightly caugh off guard by Moriko's question about her bag of supplies. It wasn't a super weird question or anything, but it was just a thing that Fue had grown so accustomed to that she forgot other people would think it unusual. "Yeah, normally I do, this one or my bigger bag. That's the one I had for the hike." She smiled at the memory, the climb had been awful but the picnic and time at the lake had been wonderful, even their shared picture in front of the lake had been perfection, not a thing she would want to change. It was actually the background on her computer and her phone, no longer the picture of her her and her mother's at her 13th birthday party.
Changing the picture had been surprisingly easy. If somebody had asked her just two weeks before if she'd ever change the picture of her family all together and happy before she was sent off to school, she would have said that was crazy. But something had changed that day with Moriko. Now she knew it was love, or something that felt like love, and every time she opened her laptop or phone, Fue saw that picture and her heart seemed to fill back up with light and joy. What could be a better background than that?
This one is just for normal stuff, like dinner or breakfast or whatever, things that don't need a lot of glamour. My bigger bag is for actual schoolwork, it has a lot more supplies in it and space for my camera and all the bits and bobs that let me play with pictures. I have a third even bigger bag too, well, it's more like a big old suitcase. It has room for my camera, tripods, all kinds of dishes and silverware, and even stuff like tablecloths and backdrops and a few small flashlights if the normal light isn't good enough. It's like a professional studio in a pack." It also weighed about as much as she did and was basically impossible to travel with. So that was saved for special projects, like class projects that were make it or break it.
Fue let Moriko have the first forkful so that they wouldn't end up accidentally bumping forks in the small box. It wouldn't do to accidentally spill a bit of the dessert on the ground when it was so special. Fue took the fork and pushed the lemon slice on her side slightly over. She wanted to save that. Then she used the fork to cut her half into four pieces, each one a bite. She speared one with her fork and plopped it right into her mouth. She didn't so much as chew with her teeth as she did with her tongue. She closed her eyes, trying to identify every flavor, every ingredient. She wasn't that good, not yet. Some of the other students in the cooking classes could and it was always impressive. But she was working on it. But even if Fue couldn't tell what everything was, she could tell that the pastry treat was delicious. She brought her right hand up to her chin and held it there as she chewed. A force of habit ingrained in her at a young age as polite. This was really good, definitely could stand up to any of the patisseries back home. Fue gulped, "This is really good."

Opening her eyes, Moriko watches in amusement as Fue further cuts her slice into smaller pieces, and then scoots the lemon slice to the side. Must be saving it for last... she thinks, deciding to do the same. Leaning forward slightly, she stares intently at Fue, not wanting to miss the other girl's reaction to the first bite. The fork rises, the movement smooth and steady. The bite slips into Fue's mouth, her lips closing around the fork and sliding out in one fluid motion. As her jaw works subtly in the act of chewing her eyes flutter closed. Just like me! Moriko thinks in triumph. That means she must like it too! She watches a moment longer, as Fue raises her hand up, covering her mouth as she chews. Which, along with her relaxed posture, is quite cute! She feels her cheeks redden slightly at the thought and diverts her attention back to the box.
Satisfied at her companion's reactions, she finds her ability to resist any further crumbling. Moriko takes another forkful of the dessert, this one bigger than the one she'd taken previously. The lemon slice falls to the side, laying at the bottom of the box, next to the little bit of what's left of her slice. She lifts it to her face, hand cupped underneath to catch the crumbs, mouth wide open to take the bite, when Fue speaks. Freezing in place for just a moment, she drops her hands slightly and lifts her chin to toss a cheerful grin Fue's way.
"It is, it isn't it?!" she exclaims, her words and face filled with excitement.
Bright teals sparkling, she pops the whole piece into her mouth. Her cheeks puff out chipmunk-like, for it's quite a large bite, a small smudge of the cream smearing the left corner of her mouth. Removing the fork, she chews slowly, her cheeks shrinking as she swallows. Another look of bliss overtakes her, though this time her eyes stay open. Again, she can't help the soft sound of delight that escapes her. Finishing up that bite, she sighs, her hands falling into her lap.
"I don't know where you got this..," she pauses as she tries to remember how to say it, her nose scrunching slightly in the effort. She continues, not quite getting it right, but trying her best, "... mille-feuille, but I think this may now be one of my most favorite desserts." Her expression turns solemn, momentarily, but then brightens up when she glances down into the box and notices the last bit left.
Spearing it, she quickly finishes it off, a few flakes sticking to her chin and cheeks. All that's left now is the slice of lemon. Throwing a sideways glance Fue's way, she asks, her eyes dancing with mischief.
"Want to share our lemons with each other?" She carefully stabs her lemon slice and holds the fork up, throwing Fue a questioning look. She'd seen her parents do that with each other often enough that she's sure it's something couples do. And they're a couple now, right? Besides, it had always looked like her parents had fun when they did do it! Which makes her want to try it out too.

Fue reached down with the fork and took the second of the slices. She brought it up, with her other hand hovering beneath it to catch any stray falling crumbs and then took a bite, again, covering her mouth with her hand as she chewed. She ate this one quicker and went in for the third piece. She had taken her pictures, she had savored the flavor, but now she was quite happy to just eat and enjoy the little dessert as it was. Though, as quick as she thought she was eating, Moriko easily outpaced her with a huge bite. Fue had to hide a giggle at the other girl's puffed up cheeks.
Fue finished chewing before she spoke. "I'll take you there, maybe this weekend. They have lots of desserts and maybe they'll have some variations on this." She pointed at the nearly empty box with her fork. "Like, different flavored creams and stuff. There is a lot you can do to make the same dessert taste differently with oils and syrups and extracts and stuff. Like, vanilla and lemon cake are incredibly similar but you wouldn't mistake one for the other." She said and took the third piece.
As she chewed, Moriko came out of nowhere with an idea to feed each other. Was that...a thing people did, or was it a romantic thing? Like, her parents had eed her when she was really little, and they'd share a fork if there was only the one and they were splitting some meal. She looked at the offered piece of lemon on the fork. To take that piece from her, off her fork, it did feel kind of intimate, didn't it? She reached down and speared her lemon and lifted it. "O-ok. She said as her face started to turn red. She held out her fork to Moriko and opened her mouth to take a gentle bite, pulling the lemon off the fork more with her lips than teeth.
There was the barest hint that the lemon had once been sour. Despite it's firm look with the crystallized sugar across it, the lemon had a texture more like paper and it softened and coated their mouths in sweet lemon flavor. Fue let it sit on her tongue for several moments without chewing. It was so good, she wished she could just buy a box to have, though that would probably be bad for her teeth and waist.
She looked at Moriko, also eating the slice of lemon and smiled. Fue glanced down at the fork in her hand. Wait, was this the thing that people called an indirect kiss? It was, was that what Moriko had wanted? Fue's face turned a bit redder and she sucked in her lips. Well, it wasn't like it was bad and they were a couple now. An idea struck her, it was a bit silly and stupid, but why not? "Hey, Moriko." She said, to get her full attention. Fue held up her fork and then suddenly tapped it against Moriko's with a plastic-y click. "Kiss."

At Fue's offer to take her to where she'd gotten the dessert, Moriko's eyes light up in excitement. Only to dim down again, her enthusiasm tempered by the fact that such sweet shops are usually smack dab in the middle of a town or city. She frowns in thought, wondering how far into the city the shop would be. She's about to ask where the shop is located, when she glances down at the lemon slice and her idea to share it with Fue pops up, making her forget her first question entirely.
So instead, she asks the second question, an odd mixture of anticipation and nervousness swirling through her mind as she waits for Fue's response. Worst case scenario, Fue would say no, and Moriko would just eat her slice of lemon herself. It'd be a bit of a disappointment, but it wouldn't do any harm. At least, she hopes that's the worse case scenario. For all she knows, now that she thinks about it, she could have just insulted Fue. And now that the thought has entered her mind, she starts to worry. Especially since Fue seems to be thinking about it longer than she had. She's about to open her mouth, to say never mind, it'd been a spur of the moment idea, when Fue instead agrees to it!
Anxiously, Moriko watches as Fue spears her own lemon with the fork and holds it out to her. Eyes flicking between the fork and Fue's face, she doesn't miss the red tinging the other's cheeks. Her own face warming up, she leans forward at the same time as Fue. Their faces are super close now, she can feel the puff of breathe Fue releases right before she takes the slice of lemon into her mouth. Mesmerized by the detail of the other girl's lips as they wrap around the lemon piece, she doesn't realize that Fue is moving away until her lips slide off of the fork and her face retreats from her own. Breath hitching oddly in the back of her throat, Moriko breaks free of the strange spell that had taken hold of her. Hastily biting down on the lemon slice offered to her, she pulls back as well.
Gah, what is wrong with me?? she wonders confusedly, her cheeks flaming. This is the second time this night she's been so captivated. And by the same thing, no less! Shaking her head, she freezes in place suddenly as the texture of the lemon slice registers in her mind. It's not at all what she expected and thoroughly distracts her from her previous line of thought.
It's... it's melting away! At one moment she can feel the papery substance stick to the roof of her mouth and the top of her tongue. Then in the next, it dissolves, flooding her mouth with a sweet, yet slightly tangy flavor. Eyebrows jumping up, her whole expression is one of surprised delight. There's still some of the fruit left, which she eats slowly, savoring the chewy firmness. Her gaze returns to Fue, just catching the smile the other girl directs her way. Returning the smile with a grin of her own, she swallows the last of the lemon slice. A satisfied sigh escapes her. The lemon had been the perfect final cap to an exceptional dessert.
Still basking in the glow of her contentment, Moriko finds her attention drawn back to Fue when the other girl says her name. Looking up from the fork she still holds (where her absent gaze had fallen) she returns her full attention to Fue. Her eyes widen as her companion raises her fork and gently taps them against her lips and utters that one word.
"Kiss."
A sudden understanding hits her as images of her parents kissing each other, not on the cheek, but on the lips, rises in her. That's why she keeps getting distracted by Fue's mouth! She wants to kiss her! Her own lips part at her realization, her cheeks flaming up.
It's much too early for that! Even if the desire is there, she's NOT ready for that yet. Definitely not!
But here's Fue, dear sweet Fue, with an answer to such a dilemma.
Smiling shyly back at Fue, Moriko raises her own fork and lightly taps it against Fue's most enticing lips.
"Kiss," she whispers back, bright teals gazing gently into soft browns.

They’d done it, well, kissed, kind of. But they’d done something. Fue blushed bright red and suppressed a small giggle. Moriko had also turned red, it was so cute. Fue’s heart pounded just a little bit harder at the sight. She wanted to see that more. It was like they were one step closer to, well, to something. But one step closer to each other for sure. She held Moriko’s gaze, not wanting to blink, wanting to stare into the other until they were one and knew each other closer than anyone else. Then she blinked and time had to return to them both.
Fue’s grin softened into a smile, she was so happy that her cheeks were starting to hurt. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d smiled this much and obviously her face was out of practice. Fue wanted to reach over, to touch Moriko, her hand, her cheek, some part of her so that they could be connected again. But proper behavior had to be maintained and things had to be well kept if they were to last. So she reached instead for her kit and jostled it around until she found a small plastic bag. In it, Fue put the knife and her fork, then she held it out for Moriko’s. “Here, I’ll wash them with my other things so don’t worry yourself about it.”
What she didn’t have in her bag was a place for trash. She’d learned long ago that it had a way of piling up if you held on to it and it could very quickly be forgotten in a bag, even one as generally well kept as hers. Then it would just sit for ages and ages until it got super gross. She looked around for a trash can but there didn’t seem to be one, which made sense, it was an equipment shed after all. Fue gave up, she had no ideas, if they put it up on the shelf again, they might forget it on their way out.
And, thinking of the way out, she looked up at the ceiling. The rain continued to pound against it, echoing through the small building. It didn’t seem like it was going to let up any time soon. But that just meant she could spend more time with Moriko and that was good, it would have been better if they could do it in a library or somewhere a bit more comfortable though. Maybe their dorm room. Fue’s face turned bright red at the thought. Maybe not that, not yet. She quickly turned her face as far from Moriko’s as she could. Too much thought, too quickly. Her heart kicked up another notch. She leaned back and laid down on the mats.
“I think it's going to be raining for awhile.” She said. Her hand slowly reached out, searching for Moriko’s. Their fingers brushed and Fue, just for a moment, hesitated, hoping for Moriko to accept her hand again. If they were going to be here, they had a lot of time to spend with each other. They were girlfriends now, that meant they had all the time in the world. Fue was torn, on one hand she wanted to take it slow, to savor every single second like a delicious meal. But on the other hand, she wanted to do it all as quickly as possible, to try every course, every dessert. But at least in her hand right now she could have Moriko’s, and that was good.
But thinking about the future, there were a lot of unknowns. “Are you-” she paused and restarted the question, “what are you going to tell your dad? Do you think he’s going to be ok with this?” Not just the whole relationship thing but the gay part. Fue had heard stuff about some Americans. Obviously her mothers knew, Fue had asked them for all the advice they could give her. She was going to have to give them a phone call late tonight so she could catch them off work and before dinner.

Their gazes are locked for what seems like an eternity. An eternity that Moriko doesn't want to end, for she could drown in the warmth of those earthen eyes. But, as all good things tend to do, it does end. Fue blinks, and suddenly the breath returns to the world. And to her, for unbeknownst to her, she'd been holding her own breath. Drawing in a deep draught of air, Moriko releases it slowly as she tries to calm the rapid tattoo of her heart. Inhaling and exhaling deliberately, she's finally able to bring her heart-rate down to it's usual pace.
During her calming exercises, Moriko shoots quick peeks at Fue. The large grin from earlier is gone, but it's not completely vanished. Instead, it's been replaced by a soft smile. Moriko feels an echo of that smile tilting her own lips up. This is the most she's ever seen Fue smile. In fact, the grins from earlier are the biggest she's ever seen the other girl give. Now that she thinks of it, this is the most she's seen Fue smile since meeting her. And not those polite smiles when in the company of others. Those don't count, for they're not genuine. No, this is the most she's seen Fue actually smile with such untroubled abandon.
This observation, one usually not made so easily by her, crystallizes a realization in Moriko's mind. She wants to see Fue smile more often. More importantly, she wants Fue to be happy. And a smile is a sure fire way to tell if another person is happy. She's still not very good at reading people, which often leads to a great many misunderstandings. But if she can learn how to read Fue, then at least she can do her best to make sure that those misunderstandings are reduced. Which will hopefully lead to happiness.
While she's lost in her thoughts, Fue turns away and digs around in her food preparation kit. The rustle of plastic breaks into Moriko's musing and she looks up to see Fue holding out a small clear bag. The knife and Fue's fork are already placed inside of it. Dropping her own fork into the bag at Fue's prompting, she glances down at the box that the cake had been in. It still sits on the mats, creating a barrier between them where it had once brought them closer together. Closing the lid, she picks it up. There's nowhere for her to throw it away, so she leans over and places it on the ground in front of the pile of mats. That way they won't forget it, since it'll be right there in plain view and near their feet.
As she's doing this, Fue gets her bag in order and then lays back down on the mats. Rising from her task, Moriko leans back on her hands. Her gaze is drawn to Fue's supine form, an unconscious smile of appreciation taking hold of her.
Glancing up at the roof at Fue's comment about the rain, Moriko gives a soft "Hmmm" of assent. From the sounds of it, the rain has decided to settle in for the long haul. If the rain doesn't let up, they're going to have a rather soggy run to the dorms. Especially since neither one of them seems to have an umbrella.
Suddenly, she feels a tentative touch brushing against the fingers of one of her hands. Eyes falling, she sees Fue's fingers stretching out, their tips just touching her own. A quiet smile taking hold of her, Moriko shifts the weight off of her hand and entwines her fingers with Fue's. She lets herself fall backwards onto the mats so that she's laying next to Fue. The warmth of their combined hands is reassuring in a way she's not felt in what seems like such a long time.
It's so peaceful. The rain pattering against the roof, the stillness in the shed, the comfort of Fue's presence. Then Fue asks a question. Frowning in thought, Moriko turns her head to look over at the other girl. It had honestly never occurred to her that there may be any trouble. But the way Fue had asked the question now leads her to wonder if there would be. It takes her a moment before she answers.
"I don't think my dad will mind," she murmurs, her words coming slow and thoughtful. "He's actually from Ireland and only moved to America after college. They don't seem to have anything against this kind of thing over there." At least, as far as she's aware from the stories he's told her of his home country. Pausing, her frown deepens. "But my grandmother..." her words peter out, before she continues with a shrug. "She's hard to read sometimes. I don't think she'll have a problem, but I'm not for sure. She's older generation Japanese, so it's hard to tell."
Turning on her side, she draws Fue's hand closer to her and curls slightly around it. Raising her eyes, she meet Fue's own.
"You have two mothers, right? So there shouldn't be a problem with them, then?" she asks softly, a bit of worry slipping into her tone.

Fue’s eyes flitted back and forth, she wasn’t quite able to bring herself to meet Moriko’s eyes again, but she held the other girl’s hand tightly. It was a really serious question. They were dating now, they were together. That meant things might not always be easy on them. But Fue wanted it to be as easy as possible, she didn’t want to make life any harder for Moriko. Sure they could rely on each other, be each other’s Rock when the wind blew hard, but Fue would be heartbroken if she was the cause of some rift between Moriko’s family.
“I see.” Fue said softly. She wasn’t entirely sure on the views of old Japanese grandmothers, but a lot of the time old generations seemed like they could be really strict and demanding. “I do, my moms, well, they basically already know. I asked them for advice on how to approach you and ask you to be my partner.” Fue’s cheeks started turning red again. Partner, girlfriend, they were girlfriends now. She squeezed Moriko’s hand.
“They kept encouraging me to follow my heart and trust my instincts. Like, I don’t have instincts, that’s why I asked for help.” She giggled. “But they’ll be supportive of me and you. I’ve told them lots of stuff about you, I’m sure they’ll like you.” She said with some confidence. Obviously they must since when Fue started talking about Moriko while on video calls, her mother's would start smiling and looking at each other. So obviously that was a good sign, right?
“But my grandparents might not be as happy, I don’t know. I mean, I haven’t seen them in a really long time. We talk sometimes but they don’t really leave Russia much and that’s kind of...you know. My parents don’t go visit anymore.” Fue frowned, she loved her grandparents, but she didn’t really know how they’d react to her being gay like her parents. She was technically only half of her mother’s but still, it felt odd. Her uncles seemed like they’d be ok with it, they still occasionally visited her parents and she’d met some cousins.
It all came crashing down on Fue that she really didn’t know what would or could change from such a simple confession. She pulled Moriko’s hand close to her chest and scooted closer to her girlfriend. “Umm, suddenly I’m really nervous.” She wanted to feel Moriko’s support. “I promise that no matter what happens, I’ll stay with you. Ok? I’ll be strong for you no matter what, just, if you could be strong for me.”
They had only just started holding hands, they were still a bit damp, and they were just in a shed in a rainstorm, but suddenly Fue wanted, needed a hug. The hand reminded her every moment, with every squeeze, that this was real and she had taken the leap, but now it was all a matter of falling, and, as Fue inched closer to Moriko, she wanted that stability.

So Fue's parent's already know! Moriko's a bit surprised by this knowledge, since she's not really spoken to anyone from her family since she left home. Her aunt maybe once or twice and her grandmother only a handful of times. And each time they called her, not the other way around. She's not spoken with her father since the day she left and her brother... well she's not talked to him for much longer than that.
And here's Fue, who says that not only do her mothers already know, but that she's spoken to them about her! Moriko can feel her cheeks heat up at the thought. She hopes that what Fue has said are good things. That she's made a good impression on them, even though she's not even met them! Suddenly the thought of meeting Fue's parents sends a spike of nervousness through her. She's always been apprehensive about meeting new people. You never know what you'll get from the interaction, after all. Strangers are scary. Especially when there's a lot of them in one place! She's never felt like she particularly needed to make a good impression, though. At least, not until now! Suddenly, it's very important to her that Fue's parents don't outright reject her.
Opening her mouth to ask what Fue's told her parents about her, she closes it again when the other girl says that they kept encouraging her. And that Fue's mothers will be supportive of them. Is supportive of them. Relief washes through her. But it's tempered by Fue's next words about her extended relatives. Well, as long as Fue's parents don't mind them being together... Moriko decides to worry about the other family members if/when it becomes a problem.
As for her own family, Moriko's biggest fear is how her grandmother will react. She's the one she's closest to, the only one who's opinions really matter. She really hopes that her grandmother accepts them...
Her worried thoughts are broken into when Fue suddenly tightens her grip and pulls their clasped hands closer to her. She scoots closer, her body heat radiating off her in an inviting fashion. Her words bring an odd relief. They both are feeling worried and uncertain. And that earnest promise!
Shuffling closer to Fue, Moriko leans her forehead against Fue's. Speaking in a low tone, she murmurs, "I'm nervous too. Don't know how my family's gonna react. Not really. Especially my grandmother." Gently, she rubs her forehead against Fue's, their faces close and breaths mingling. "But I do know that I won't just give up. I'll fight for us, if it comes to that." This she says in a fierce whisper, her bright teals locking onto those soft browns. "You don't have to worry about that, at least."
She can see the worry in Fue's eyes and a protective urge rises in Moriko. She may be smaller than Fue, but she's surprisingly strong for her short stature. Giving Fue's hand a reassuring squeeze, she shifts closer and pulls the other girl into a firm but gentle embrace. She's not very good with words, but maybe with her actions she can reassure Fue.
Her girlfriend.
And whatever that entails.

They were close now, the pair held hands tightl, both feeling their nerves fray as they were confronted by an uncertain future together. Fue leaned her head in, this close to Moriko their noses nearly touched. She very much didn’t want her friend, her girlfriend to lose the bond with her grandmother. Fue was willing to keep it secret, at least to some degree, even if the though of occasionally not being able to meet hurt her somewhere deep in her chest. It was a pain she was unfamiliar with, not unlike when she’d first left France and her parents behind.
“Maybe,” she paused, it was a risky thing, like something out of a drama on tv, but maybe that’s how life was sometimes, “maybe you could just start with your dad. Send him the picture of us on the beach and tell him. Then if he approves of me, you could ask him what your grandmother might think. He would know, right?” Keeping secrets could be troublesome, but a family split, especially in one so closely knit was far worse. “I mean, I don’t look great in the picture and you’re all wet still, but you know, that’s like real life and stuff.” Her voice was anxious with something like excited apprehension.
It had been after the picnic, they had laid together, holding hands, when they were just friends though both hoping to become something more, even if they didn’t quite understand that want at the time. The sun had started to hit the tree line, beginning the transition from afternoon to evening earlier than expected. Fue had taken lots of pictures around the lake and of the picnic itself, but she was struck by a maddening desire to preserve the entire moment on film. Something to hold on to and remember for as long as she could. Not the food, not the place, but all of it bringing the unlikely pair of girls closer together.
With an unexpected forwardness, she told Moriko that she wanted to take a picture. A picture of both of them together, sitting side by side for the picnic with the lake in the background. The lighting was perfect, and Fue was not going to accept the word no. She had all kinds of justifications, but Moriko agreed so easily. Fue’s heart leapt, filling with joy. She wasn’t sure what her friend was thinking or feeling, and she hoped that she was not being too demanding. Fue knew that she could be overly precise when taking pictures, but this was supposed to be natural. And what was more natural than two friends sharing a picnic?
It was never as simple as that, though. Fue couldn’t help but fuss and adjust as she set up the camera to take several photos of them, sitting, standing, holding hands, standing shoulder to shoulder. It wasn’t unlike her pictures of food, the difference was, once she’d gotten home, she had not deleted the ones that weren’t quite as nice. Every one she’d kept, every one she treasured. Obviously only the best one was shared, only the best one had ended up as a screensaver so she could keep looking at it. But it was a happy time for her, hopefully she hadn’t been too annoying for Moriko, but obviously she hadn’t. Else they wouldn’t have ended up like this.
It reminded her of the trip home. She had been tired from the hike, unused to such activities, and, though the packs were lighter, they were still extra weight upon her back. And so, despite Moriko’s nervousness, Fue had fallen asleep with her head on Moriko’s shoulder as they sat in the cushioned chairs. It was embarrassing, but that was life too. The memory of how the pair relied on each other to accomplish something neither would ever manage alone filled Fue with courage. Even if it was hard, even if they had to hide it for awhile, they would still have each other. That was what mattered.

Fue's warmth seeps into her as her she holds the other girl close. Moriko briefly closes her eyes, feeling a sense of comfort wash over her. It's been so long since she's felt such a thing. Except, she's the one giving comfort instead of receiving it. Well, maybe it's both, for she still feels it welling within her.
She can feel Fue's wet clothes against the arm she's hugging with, but it doesn't bother her at all. All that matters is the soft form wrapped in her embrace and their shared breathes. For a moment, the only sound in her ears is the falling rain and the steady beating of her heart. Then Fue speaks, breaking the spell of stillness that had fallen over Moriko.
Opening her eyes, Moriko draws back until their foreheads are touching once again. She lightly rests her free arm around Fue's shoulders, reluctant to give up the contact. Her other hand still gently holds onto Fue's own.
Nodding slowly at Fue's words about telling her dad, Moriko's eyes drift down to their clasped hands. "Maybe..." she murmurs, her voice soft and hesitant. "But we've only just become girlfriends." Raising her gaze, she peers directly into Fue's eyes. "I'm still not sure how it's all supposed to work. I'd like to take some time figuring it out, before telling them anything."
Glancing down at their clasped hands again, she sighs. She doesn't mention how the structure of her family has so drastically changed over the past year, before she came to Fukui Academy. How her mother's death is still very much in the forefront of all of their minds. Of all their interactions with each other. With her. A brief flicker of pain shoots through her, but she's able to push it aside with practiced ease. Besides, this is a happy moment, after all. It wouldn't do to ruin it with her family situation!
She smiles, her bright teals returning to Fue's dark browns. "Don't worry, though. I promise to tell them." Leaning forward, she rubs her nose against Fue's. Smile widening and eyes sparkling with mischief, Moriko gives a playful whisper, "Eskimo kiss!"
Suddenly, a fierce shiver moves through her. It starts at the base of her skull and darts it's way down her spine in a short violent burst. Quickly slipping her arm from around Fue's shoulders, she sits up abruptly, her nose wrinkling. And just in time, too, for a strong sneeze rocks out of her! Sniffling, for now her nose is a bit runny, she throws an apologetic smile Fue's way. The hair on the side of her head that was resting against the mat is flattened in some places and sticking up at absurd angles in others. Somehow, despite the surprise sneeze, she's still managed to keep hold of Fue's hand. Raising her free hand up, she rubs the back of her head bashfully.
"Sorry for moving so fast. I didn't want to sneeze into your face."

Moriko wanted to wait and that was ok. They had made a huge step forward today and Fue was glad. She couldn't wait to tell her parents and that would be plenty. She couldn't wait for the summer when they would come visit. Then they could all meet and she could introduce Moriko to them. Well, knowing her parents, that introduction would end up a lot sooner. They'd probably start immediately asking when they could have a video call or something. Well Fue would hold off on that. They were going to take this relationship slow and do things the right way. And then maybe Fue would talk to Moriko about a video call.
Fue's thought process was suddenly interrupted by Moriko's unexpected eskimo kiss. Fireworks went off in her head, it was so close, they had only rarely and mostly accidentally gotten that close before. Their noses touched, their lips were so close, it was a whole different type of kiss. It was a panicked response as even that confused thread was interrupt by Moriko suddenly tearing herself away and sneezing. "Thank you!" Fue said loudly and then took it back. "Wait, i mean, you're welcome, no. Bless you." Her cheeks reddened. "Bless you, and thanks for not sneezing in my face too."
What an embarrassing thing, but Moriko had seen her do stuff that was just as embarrassing, if not more, and they were now girlfriends. But it was still really embarrassing. To cover up her mild shame, she sat up and reached over to brush down Moriko's hair with her fingers. "I hope you're not getting a cold. That's what happens when you get all wet and don't dry yourself off properly. Do you want my handkerchief to blow your nose?" She reached back into her pocket and realised it wasn't there. Right, they'd already been using them to wipe things down and as a mat for the cake box. That probably had them pretty dirty.
"Or...maybe a napkin actually, I have some in my bag." She leaned over and pulled open a side pocket and pulled out a whole mess of napkins, along with the single one she had tried to pull out. She offered that to Moriko before forcing the rest back into the pocket where they belong. "You never know when you'll need to clean up a spill or something." She said, as some form of explanation as to why she had so many all stuffed into too small of a pocket. "Maybe we should risk the rain to get inside. A hot shower would be nice, and a warm bed would help us both feel better I'm sure."

It takes a bit of effort for Moriko to not laugh out loud at Fue's burst of words. Instead, she holds the laugh in, shoulders shaking and eyes twinkling in her amusement. She's so cute! she exclaims silently to herself. Though she makes sure not to be overly obvious about her thoughts. Raising her hand up, she hides the smile that takes hold of her. She can't hide the crinkle of her eyes, but at least she's not outright laughing in her face. That wouldn't do!
"Thank you," she says to the bless you, her words filled with an undercurrent of amusement. "And you're welcome."
Then Fue reaches out to her and begins running her fingers through her hair. Blinking, Moriko reaches up and feels how her hair on that side is sticking up a bit. Expression turning sheepish, she murmurs, "And after you already brushed it." For the past year she's hacked her own hair off with a knife when she felt parts of it getting too long. Her hair is generally quite unruly, due to it being unevenly cut. It's not something she's ever put much thought into. As long as her hair remains short and out of her eye, she's happy.
Fue offers her a handkerchief and then a napkin when she can't find a clean one. Trying to pat her hair back down into some semblance of flatness, Moriko nods her head at the offer. "If you've got some, then yes please." She sniffles again, trying to prevent her nose from dripping any further. "I shouldn't get a cold from this," she adds as she watches Fue open up a side pocket on her magic food art bag. "I've been through worse and not gotten sick, after all."
Her eyes widen at the sight of all the napkins, but she just nods when Fue mentions needing to clean up spills. It makes sense, but man are there a lot of napkins! Accepting the one Fue hands over to her, she quickly blows into it. Sinuses clear, she wads it up and glances around, wondering where she can put it. Since it's trash... Scooting over to the edge of the mats, she bends down and picks up the empty cake box. Lifting the lid, she drops the used napkin inside and closes it again. Setting the box to the side, she returns her attention back to Fue when the other girl speaks.
Nodding in agreement, she glances out one of the shed windows.
"Yeah, I don't think the rain will let up any time soon. I think we should risk it." Turning her eyes back to Fue, she grins, "Besides, we're still damp from being rained on before. A little more rain shouldn't make too much of a difference. And a hot shower does sound nice." Tilting her head to the side, she raises an eyebrow.
"If you're up for a run to the dorms, then so am I."

Theora glanced at the door, she really didn’t want to go running through the rain and getting even more wet, but it wasn’t as if she was all that comfortable being slightly damp and sitting in a cold shed as it was. Actually running was trading mild discomfort for possibly a long time for a lot of discomfort for a much shorter time. Sure, the being all nice and cozy and warm would be better in the long run, but it was that short burst of wet and sogginess that was really putting Fue off. Even somebody as practical as her had weaknesses and she was having trouble making the choice even she knew was obviously the correct one.
Fue’s eyes flickered back to Moriko. She was willing to brave the rains but obviously it had to be the pair of them together. Fue’s eyes returned to the door. Together, but Fue knew Moriko was a fast runner and she was very much not. At best, she’d slow Moriko down and prolong both their suffering. But was she really thinking of how Moriko would feel? Was this kindness? Or was this Fue trying to avoid running through the rain and just finding another excuse to put off doing so? Why not both? Possibly it was more the latter since Moriko seemed far less bothered by the idea.
It was definitely just Fue being stubborn after all. She sighed lightly and then took in a deep breath. “Alright, you’re right. The shower is worth it.” She said. Fue knelt down by her bag and began fiddling with things in it, adjusting positions, moving folders. Obviously you wouldn’t want such things rattling around when you ran, that would just make a bigger mess in your bag. It wasn’t a stalling tactic to delay the inevitable run, not at all.
But she couldn’t stall for very long, the main flaw in her plan was that Fue was very organized when it came to her supplies already and did her best to take care of them. They weren’t likely to make a mess in any situation. Fue hung her head down and gave up. “Ok, I think I’m ready.” She zipped up her bag and stood up. Taking a deep breath, she hoisted it up and over her shoulders and tugged the straps tight as she steeled her will to confront the rain still making a ruckus on the shed roof.
Fue tried to smile back at Moriko, her heart really wasn’t in it, God just imagining the first strike of cold water running down the back of her neck. But it was ok, they were going to the dorms where there was shelter and warm water and soft blankets. It was all going to be worth it. Fue held out her hand. It wasn’t like she expected Moriko to run off without her, even if that was a better option to avoid the wet. More like, Fue wanted that extra boost of confidence and courage to face the cold that she could get from Moriko’s touch. Together, they pushed open the door and the wind rushed in with a cold flash.

Watching Fue quietly, Moriko can tell that the other girl is hesitant about going back out in the rain. She doesn't say anything, though, letting Fue come to her own decision without pushing her. She's willing to stay a bit longer, if that's what Fue wants. But staying the night wouldn't be a very good choice. Especially since they're not really prepared for it, and the shed wouldn't be very warm once the sun goes down. At the thought, Moriko's eyes drift back over to the windows. There's no sign of sunlight, or even the sky. Only the heavy steel gray of the rain clouds blanketing everything. Despite that, it's still fairly bright out, so the sun is still up. But it's autumn and it gets pretty cold at night now. No way would she want for them to be running in the dark and rain with the temperature dropping. She's had to do that before and it's not really something she'd like to experience again any time soon. If Fue decides to wait for a bit longer, then she'll bring this stuff up to her. As if her thoughts could be heard, Fue sighs and agrees to the dorm run. Perking up, Moriko slips off of the mats and snags her own bag. Glancing down at the cake box, Moriko looks around for a trash can. Not finding one, she carefully crumples it up, making sure that it won't leak any crumbs, and then shoves it into her bag. It bulges out some, but the bag closes completely, so she's not worried about it. She'll just throw the cake box away when she gets back to the dorms. Looking around, she makes sure they're not leaving anything behind. That's when she spots the handkerchief she'd used earlier. Snagging it, she folds it up and places it in her pant's pocket. Nodding to herself, she slings the strap of her her book bag over her shoulder and adjusts it for running. All of this hardly takes any time for her to do, so she's ready to go fairly quickly.
Turning back, she watches as Fue fiddles with her own bags, before hanging her head and saying she's ready. The other girl rises, looking quite unhappy. To the point where even Moriko can see it. Cocking her head slightly to the side, she peers into Fue's eyes, a warm smile tilting her lips up. Taking hold of the hand held out to her, Moriko gives it an encouraging squeeze.
"Don't worry, we'll be there in no time," she murmurs, trying to put Fue at ease. "Just think of the warm shower, dry clothes, and soft bed just waiting for us back at the dorms." Reaching out, they both open the door, the chill air and damp swirling around them in a gust.
Throwing another smile of encouragement Fue's way, Moriko gives a quick "Here we go!" and starts jogging through the rain, towards the dorms, being careful to set a pace Fue won't struggle too much with. She makes double sure that their hands never part.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They've reached the dorms, and now stand under the covered entrance way of the building. The rain still falls, though it's more of a light drizzle than an actual downpour at this point. Moriko is soaked to the bone, hair dripping and clothing clinging to her tiny frame. A small tremor has taken hold of her, the chill of the rain having stolen most of the heat from her body. Fue's not doing much better, from what she can tell. But there's still a spot of warmth left in their hands, still clasped together, as they had been for the whole jog there.
Squeezing that warm and comforting hand, Moriko faces Fue directly and grins brightly at her.
"S-see, we m-made it!" she stutters out, her teals gleaming excitedly in the yellow light streaming out from the windows of the dorm building. Despite being wet and cold, she's quite happy. And oddly energetic!
“Hot water, warm bed, hot water, warm bed.” Fue repeated to herself. She squeezed Moriko’s hand tightly as they approached the door. Her teeth clenched and the mantra repeated itself in her head. The blast of cold as they opened the door sent a chill down her spine and her whole body started shivering instantly. Her hand clenched down even tighter against Moriko’s and what fortitude she had built up blew away. She wanted to go back inside, she even held back for a moment, but Moriko was already moving and it was either running together or being separated in the cold.
Fue forced herself to start running, head held down low, desperately trying to make herself as small of a target for the rain to cling to as she could. Her backpack bounced on her back but at least it worked as a big shield from the rain, but the water slid down her short hair and right down onto her neck and into the collar of her shirt which was just as bad. As Fue ran as fast as she could, the mantra floated back into her brain. It would all be over soon, she could do it. She was even keeping up with Moriko. Obviously she’d been motivated to run faster than ever before.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They’d made it, Fue could hardly believe it. The run felt like it was never ending, like she was going to have to run the marathon forever. She doubled over under the awning, one hand on her knee and the other still clinging tightly to Moriko as she gulped down air. At least they’d never split up. Fue stood up and opened her mouth to speak then leaned back down to keep sucking in oxygen. It was clear to both of them that maybe Fue needed to do a bit more working out, especially some endurance training.
Unable to speak at the moment, Fue settled for squeezing Moriko’s hand twice. She was freezing and shivering from the cold, or maybe she was shaking from the exertion. Fue forced herself to stand up straight and took a long, loud, and deep breath through her nose. “W-w-warm w-wat-ter, hot-t-t bed.” She stuttered through chattering teeth and held up her other hand to give a V-sign. Fue walked to the doors and stopped just before opening, instead just slumping against the glass. “My legs f-feel like j-jelly.”
She turned to look at Moriko who seemed to be beaming. Even like this, wet, hair askew, she looked excited and full of energy. Fue felt her heart beat even faster, somehow even though it was still pounding from the run. She squeezed Moriko’s hand. How did she get this lucky, Moriko was so beautiful. Fue pulled away from the door and opened it for her girlfriend to go in first. “Thank you, Moriko.” Fue said suddenly. “Thanks for not letting go of my hand and not letting me stay in the shed all night.” She would have too. Moriko seemed to be really good at pulling Fue out of her comfort zone and forcing her to try something that she ended up either enjoying or, at least, not regretting.

Fue stands next to her, bent over, heaving and gasping. She's clearly having trouble catching her breath. The grip of her hand is tight, despite the tremors that have taken hold of her. She straightens up, opening her mouth as if to speak, only to lean back over as she continues to attempt to return her breathing back to normal. Knowing full well that Fue's not in quite the same physical shape as she is, Moriko holds off on asking if the other girl is okay. At least, for the moment. If it goes on too long, she'll definitely ask!
After a few moments more, though, Fue squeezes her hand twice and rises from her stoop. She stutters out what Moriko had said as encouragement for the run and flashes her a quick sign of two fingers held up in a V shape. Not sure what that means, Moriko smiles back and copies the sign anyway, since it seems to mean something good. She'll ask about it later, if she remembers. Squeezing Fue's hand back twice, she follows behind the other girl as she totters unsteadily for the front door. But before Fue opens it, her legs suddenly buckle.
Alarm pinging through her, Moriko instinctively tightens her grip and braces her body. But Fue's in control of her fall and instead just slumps against the cold glass of the door. At her exclamation about her legs, Fue turns around, her exhaustion clear in her sluggish movements. Grinning at her girlfriend, Moriko shakes her head, the soaked strands of her hair tossing droplets of water.
"I wouldn't let you stay in the shed all night. It's been getting much too cold for that." Shifting closer, she gently raises the arm of the hand she's holding and drapes it over her shoulders. Shifting her grip so that she's firmly holding onto Fue's wrist, she leans in and murmurs, "If I'd left you behind, I wouldn't be much of a girlfriend, now would I?" Her eyes sparkle with quiet humor, her lips quirked up and the edges of her eyes crinkling ever so slightly. This is an expression that she rarely shows anyone, especially since arriving in Japan. Fue's the only person she's been able to relax enough around to let her odd sense of humor shine through.
Shifting herself so that she's able to take some of Fue's weight, Moriko tugs at the other girl so that she's no longer leaning against the glass and is instead leaning onto her. She doesn't even stagger, her stance firm and well balanced. Fue's body heat seeps into her, a comforting warmth despite the chill that the rain has brought to them. "Let's get inside. C'mon." Reaching forward, she grasps hold of the worn handle of the old wooden door. The metal is icy to the touch, but she's not going to be holding onto it for long.
Pulling the door open, she steps through the entrance way, taking special care to make sure Fue doesn't stumble or fall. "Let's get you to your room, so you can start warming up." The door swings slowly closed behind them, the sound of rain instantly muting into a soft white noise. Pausing in brief contemplation, she glances sideways and up at Fue.
"Which room are you, again?"

God, running was bad enough but doing it in the cold and rain was just so much worse. Fue knew she was out of shape but thought that was entirely unfair. She did a lot of running at the track, well, light jogging sometimes and walking other times, but she exercised. A mad sprint like this was just too much. She couldn’t wait to get to her room and just lay down, though if she did that, she might never want to stand up again. It would be very dangerous if she sat down on any of the chairs in the lounge or the dorm stairs along the way to the rooms. If she did that, she’d need to be carried the rest of the way.
Fue briefly had the image of Moriko trying to carry her up to the dorm. There was some appeal to it, but the image was mostly funny. Just being held up like a cat all splayed out all relaxed. Fue giggled to herself. She was way too big for that to work. She forced herself to stand up straight and tall. “Maybe not, but I wouldn’t be a good girlfriend if I kept holding you back.” She leaned into Moriko and let herself be pulled along into the building. The building couldn’t be called hot, but the heater was on and even that was a blessing.
Forget the shower, Fue was going to turn the thermostat as high as it went and then huddle on the vent with a mass of blankets. “I should work out more. Maybe it won’t be as difficult if you were there with me.” It was phrased as an idea, a suggestion, but Fue turned and looked at Moriko, her eyes shimmering with a bit of hope. It was obviously more of a request. After all, maybe it was true, Moriko had a definite physical advantage as the last few minutes had shown.
“I’m in room 103.” Fue said quickly. All the first years were on the first floor, but now that she thought about it, she had never visited Moriko or had Moriko come over. “My roommate’s probably there right now, her name is Kanashima Nao, don’t know if you’ve met her. She’s not bad, as far as roommates go. Have you got one?” A few brief thoughts fluttered through Fue’s mind, who they were, if she’d met them, if they were friends with Moriko, if they treated her well, if they were pretty. A horde of thoughts that were very foreign to Fue’s consciousness.

Oh good, she'd gotten it right! At Fue's reply to her good girlfriend comment, Moriko feels a slight rush of relief. Being a girlfriend is essentially being a friend, plus more. At least, that's what she's been able to figure out from her limited knowledge she's gleaned from fellow classmate conversations. A good friend wouldn't just leave someone behind in the rain. Thus she'd come to the conclusion that a good girlfriend wouldn't either.
Shaking her head at Fue's statement about holding her back, Moriko glances up at her as they continue farther into the building. "You don't hold me back," she says, a small smile tilting her lips up. Theora leans into her, the warmth of her body helping to further drive away a bit of the chill. Bright teals sparkling, she adds, "I just think of it as more time I get to spend with you." Then Fue mentions working out and how she needs to do it more. And how it'd be easier for her if Moriko was there with her. Those words raises the heat of her cheeks just a bit. She's never had anyone invite her out to any kind of activity. At least, not anyone outside her immediate family. Definitely not since she's come to Japan. So, whenever Fue asks her to do things together, she has a hard time figuring out a proper response. Eventually, she agrees, but it's always after a surprised pause.
And this time Fue's asking her for her help. Not just to be together, but to maybe help her out too. And the cherry on the top? That look Fue directs her way, filled with hope and entreaty. It's just too cute! Blush rising to her ears, Moriko quickly returns her attention the the front. Her voice dropping to an embarrassed murmur, she replies, "O-of course I don't mind working out with you, if you want. You just need to ask."
Fue gives her room number, and Moriko heads in that directions. She's still a bit too embarrassed to look at Fue directly, but every now and then she'll shoot her a quick peek. "I'm in room 105," is all that she manages to get out before falling silent. Right as they get to the hallway with their rooms in it, Fue mentions her roommate and then asks her a question. Blinking in surprise, Moriko finally turns to look at Fue directly. Expression turning thoughtful, she gives a slight shrug.
"Yeah, I've got a roommate. I think her name is Kyoko..." she pauses briefly, trying to remember the whole name, but comes up blank. "... something," she tacks on belatedly. "I can't remember her last name. I don't see her much, though. She's usually asleep by the time I get back, and gone before I wake up. She seems nice. Not a bad person. Clean."
Glancing at the door numbers, she realizes suddenly that they're in front of room 103! Coming to an abrupt halt, she slips out from under Fue's arm, and shifts her hand until she's holding Fue's hand, like they had been when they were running. She really likes the warm feeling that holding onto Fue's hand gives her.
"Looks like we've reached your room," she says, a bit reluctantly. Then a small shiver worms it's way through her, and she quickly turns her head to the side as a powerful sneeze rocks out of her! It's so strong that her hand squeezes Fue's hand a bit harder than she would normally and jerks the other girl slightly to the side.
Straightening up from the slight twist and stoop, she uses her other hand to rub under her nose.
"Ah, sorry about that," she apologizes as she loosens her tightened grip, a sheepish smile taking hold her.

Fue’s cheeks colored just a tiny bit more than they already were from the cold. "I like spending time with you too, Moriko." she answered. It was true, every moment they'd spent together, even if it was as simple as just eating lunch, or, Moriko eating while Fue fiddled with her camera, Fue had enjoyed it. The times where they were alone together were even more special, Fue wanted to have even more of those moments with Moriko. At the track, in their dorms, maybe even more hikes into the woods for late afternoon picnics. And then maybe, from there, once Moriko was more comfortable, they could go out to the city, and Fue could take her to the different cafes, introduce her to new foods, see Moriko's face light up when she ate something she liked. Seeing her face change when eating something good was adorable, even if the way Moriko tended to eat like a famine wasn't exactly ladylike. But what did that matter? She was good enough for Fue, in fact, she was better than good enough. Moriko was the best.
Fue perked up on hearing the room number. Dorm 105 meant they were practically neighbors. Obviously they were going to share the same floor but they were right there, it was like fate was working to bring them both closer and closer together. Obviously with them being so close together, they were bound to have met at some point. Even with their differing schedules and priorities, it was fate that they'd come together like this. It was more proof that she'd made the right decision, not that more proof was needed after Moriko had said yes.
It sounded like Moriko's roommate was pretty low maintenance too, which was good for Moriko. But it also sounded like the girl spent her time in the dorm, which meant that it would be kind of awkward for Fue to come over and spend a lot of time there. Actually, Fue wasn't sure how her own roommate would feel if Moriko were to come over and spend a lot of time in the dorm. That made things kind of awkward, how would she even broach the subject? Would she think it was weird? Would she want to room with somebody new? Fue felt some apprehension again, but Moriko took her hand and the doubts didn't matter so much anymore. They were together, and even if they were saying their goodnights now, they would see each other again the next day, and the day after, and after that. Probably forever.
A mighty sneeze exploded out of Moriko and made Fue jump. "Oh, that was, uh, that was a pretty big one." She said and then giggled. "Bless you, I mean." She reached for her pocket before remembering that any handkerchief she still had was both dirty and very, very wet. "You could, umm no wait, your rooms just right there." Inviting her in to dry off or blow her nose was probably unneeded. "You should get warm real quick. Take a hot shower or something and then stay warm and dry. It would be a real bummer to get sick after today. We wouldn't get to hang out as much." She smiled and gently released Moriko's hand. "Have a good night," she leaned in and wrapped her arms around Moriko in a tight, but slightly damp, hug, "girlfriend."

Moriko doesn't think much about her roommate situation. It's not that she and her roommate don't get along. It's more that they have completely different operating hours. So, despite living together in the same room, they rarely come in contact with each other. Which doesn't bother her too much, since they both make sure to be clean and not encroach on each other's spaces. She'd felt a little lonely at first, due to having so few people that she actually interacts with. But since becoming friends with Fue, that feeling has subsided a bit. It'd still be nice if she could eventually get to know her roommate better, but it doesn't feel like such a pressing issue anymore.
But those thoughts and worries are far away as Moriko sniffles. A slight chill causes another shiver to move through her. Thankfully, though, this time it's not as strong and she doesn't sneeze. Her clothes are soaked through, the oversized uniform clinging uncomfortably to her thin frame. Now that she's not so close to Fue, she can feel how cold she is.
Nodding her head at Fue's words, Moriko directs a bright smile Fue's way.
"Don't worry, I'm going to take a nice hot shower. Should warm me up real good. Been worse off before and I was fine. So I shouldn't get sick."
Fue's hug is a surprise, though not an unwanted one. Slipping her arms around the taller girl, Moriko hugs her back. Now this is something she could get used to! Fue's warmth makes it even more clear just how chilled she is. Withdrawing from the hug, Moriko steps over to her room door. Turning the knob, she cracks the door open, making sure not to make too much noise in case her roommate is inside.
Glancing back, Moriko can't help the smile that lights up her features at Fue's farewell. Bright teals twinkling cheerfully, she raises her hand in a quiet wave.
"You have a good night too, Fue," she murmurs, her voice soft. "See you tomorrow... girlfriend."
With that, she slips into her room, the door clicking shut behind her as an unusual warmth fills her chest.
