I stand straight therefore I don't fear a crooked shadow and I will continue curbing power with power. Máo Jiān Bǎo EIGHTEEN · TAIWANESE · DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION - Hair
Jet black, silky, and heavy. Her hair is best friends with gravity. In other words, a pain in the bum to style. Thankfully it holds a ponytail or half ponytail...long enough. - Eyes
The color matches the hair. Bao's eyes stretches long, framed by thin lashes and occasional dark circles after game nights. Her hoods lay quite low, giving her 'bedroom' eyes. - Face
Features are androgynous. Her facial plane is on the flat side except for her nose. She likes her square hairline so she never cuts her bangs to hide it. - Body
Standing at 175cm, Bao towers over most girls though is ultimately not the tallest. Often slouches due to her height. She is actively gaining muscle but looks nowhere near 79kg (which she is) due to her lean built. She isn't on the plump side but has something going on, enough to tell she is just a tomboy with broad shoulders. - Clothing
Bao wears whatever is comfortable and doesn't bother color coordinating since her color scheme is grayscale. When it comes to shoes, however, she is a hypebeast. She often buys and resells her trendy footwears.- Uniform
Bow-tie often taken off; rolled-up sleeves; half-tucked in top; undershirt; short skirt; invisible ankle socks (except for P.E., then normal socks); basketball shoes - Casual
Jacket (denim/faux leather)/long cardigan; t-shirt; skinny jeans; running shoes/boots - Hot Weather
Loose/sleeveless shirt; short shorts/sweatpants; sandals/running shoes - Cold Weather
Beanie; overcoat; turtleneck; thick denim pants; wool socks; ankle boots
appearance - General
Approachable yet distant. Bao exudes friendly vibes. She is naturally a conversation starter. Most times, though, all she needs to do is smile and people automatically babble their hearts out to her. Maybe it's the way she looks like she cares (she does, to an extent). Or maybe because she'll forget most things she's told until it's brought up again? Either way she is a secret dump and venting point.
To stay within her circle, however, is another task. Bao rarely sought friendships or new routines. She just keep her door open for whoever comes her way. So unless your interests or routines happen to intersect--or she particularly fancies you--expect your conversation to be a passing one. Also, she'd slam that door to your face without thinking if you piss her off. But she's not one to lock it forever with grudge as long as you're willing to talk it out...or fight it out.
In the end, regardless of closeness, Bao's personality is easy to figure out. She wears her heart on her sleeves and never sugarcoats. The only rules she follows is her free-will. Basically going for whatever she wants without hesitation. Above all, she puts her passion for illustrating first and foremost.
- Things Bao Enjoys
- Chill vibes
- Exercising
- Having company/background noises
- Things Bao Hates
- Hungry for too long
- Carpal tunnel acting up
- Anyone messing with her circle
- Bao's Habits
- Yawning when tense
It's a giveaway that she's not relaxed. - Nicknaming people
Either because they leave an impression or she forgets their names. - Physical contact
Her upbringing wasn't big on personal space and she's working to control the impulse. Then again, a hug a day keeps the doctor away.
- Bao's Positive Traits
- Ambitious
Finishes what she starts, and she starts a lot. Can be unforgivingly competitive. - Laid-back
Is accepting at best and unjudging at least, resulting in having many acquaintances. - High stamina
She'd be the one giving massages when others have or still collapsed after strenuous physical activity.
- Bao's Negative Traits
- Procrastinator
Anything not directly related to a bigger goal will be subjects to this. For example: sleeping, cleaning, etc. - Frankness
Is a trickle down trait from her childhood resentment. This allows her to keep bullshits at bay to keep her anger management in check. - Violent
Doesn't hesitate to get physical if provoked but won't bother if she knows she'd win. Driven by either pride or chivalry.
- Trivia
- Eats anything and eats a lot. Despite so, it's hard to impress her with food.
- Acts spoiled and clingy around loved ones.
- Teases people. Can be borderline annoying to some.

[/i][/ul][/li][/ul][/div][/div] personality - History
Being born to an upper-middle class family allowed Bao financial freedom that would last until she was independent and beyond. The culture she grew up in, however, cut that freedom short. [Hometown name redacted]'s culture was a golden cage to her free-spirited nature in a way no amount of monetary capacity could offset. Thankfully, her parents themselves never dictated her with 'women this, women that'.
Once she hit teen years, Bao was loosely labelled a delinquent. Surely a student who ditched class once in a while and got into fights was not the best. But she watched her grades, did her duties, and so, although she wasn't a straight-As, was far from being the worst. Moreover she excelled in art, often bringing trophies for her school and paid commissions for herself. That was likely why she still managed to enroll in Fukui.
First year in Fukui (and Japan in general) was a struggle adaptation wise. People there are very polite with high respect to boundaries, which was wonderful, but Bao's usual attitude seemed very brash in contrast. It took roughly two years before her tongue learned to hit the brake. Even then, toning down what eventually came out of her mouth was proven to be a struggle.
The newfound individualism was a bliss nonetheless. With Fukui's exceptional curriculum and connections, she could focus working on projects in and out of school which massively developed her merits. She could even make time for freelance gigs and, basically, abusing utilizing the hell out of Japan's students labour hours limit. Most importantly, Bao will never not be thankful with the way Fukui had allowed her to direct her pent up anger towards meaningful things.
In the span of only three years, Bao's passion helped her built up quite the portfolio. Now entering her fourth year, she reckon she could handle another four year to get a bachelor's degree. She has changed her mind about pursuing Master's though. Not even a scholarship will entice her. Just can't wait to ditch all academic shenanigans and focus on getting paid full-time, you know? - Family/Relatives
- Father
Máo Wǔ Gǎo (云武暠) is a wildlife photographer based on a Western corporation. For months he'd be gone exploring landscapes-so-natural-there-is-no-signal. But a family man he was, off days were dedicated to Bao and his wife first and foremost. In fact, he spent enough time with Bao for her to grow the same love for basketball as him. - Mother
Tán Tiān Wǔ (谭天武) on the other hand started off as a journalist. Due to political conditions at times, she resorted to becoming an editor for a nature magazine under the same corporation as her husband. After reaching a high position, she worked from home a lot. By no means is she a tiger-mom, but her slipper would fly if Bao needs discipline. She bails Bao out of troubles a lot and is understanding for the most part.
