The way Izumi looked down as she walked did not escape Misha's notice, but she contemplated whether it was best to shift mental gears and play out the role of the guiding older sister before vehemently mentally rejecting it. There was an immediate reaction to the notion of Romeo and Juliet, and for a moment Misha flinched and narrowed her eyes in concern. Reflex had the baker throw her cane up slightly to hold it at the golden band a fourth of the way down from the top and was about to point the top at Izumi in reprimand but was thankfully cut off by Izumi's admission that the play was a tragedy in the end. While Izumi was aware that the play was a tragedy, Misha had to shake her head as she set the cane down. "Well, I'd say that the tale of Romeo and Juliet is one which should not be emulated by any degree. Especially their first meeting. Star-crossed, perhaps. Starstruck, dangerously so. Was it truly love? Or youthful and fatal infatuation?" Misha questioned, a grave tone in her voice that faded as pivoted towards the door. "Anyways. <Once more unto the breach dear friend, once more>." With a chuckle, Misha spoke her lines of encouragement in English, not worrying much of whether Izumi would understand it. Cane in one hand and handle in the other, Misha pulled the door open and stepped through, holding it open for Izumi to pass through. A soft bell rang to announce their arrival, but at least immediately no one came to answer. Misha's cane tapped against a hard flooring as she walked. Below her feet looked like marble, to give off the impression of high class, but was betrayed by the tinny report of tiling. Not that it bothered Misha - at least for those less critical, it would have been reassuring. Silver eyes looked from mannequin to mannequin, taking note of the fine details in each of the dresses. For Misha, the pearl and snow white attire seemed so fragile - she had to resist the urge to reach out and touch one lest it shatter at the slightest contact. "Tch...these look more like sculptures to gaze at rather than things to be actually worn," Misha said. Her voice was half dismissive, half...pitying. Did her own mothers wear this? Would...Misha herself have to wear it? Nao-chan would probably love to be in one, but Misha...? The chef shook her head and looked for Izumi, only to see a middle-aged woman approaching, Izumi. "Hello! How can I help you?" the woman asked, looking to Izumi first.

Izumi, initially just looking around took a glance to Misha, and then back to the lady that had approached her. "Good.. good afternoon!" She bowed, before standing upright. Izumi had her arms at her sides, an awkward silence following what she'd just said.
Firstly, although it was obvious to both her and Misha that she was not exactly prepared to suddenly speak to another person today, let alone... a bridal store assistant? This just seemed like irony working its cruel ways right now. What was there to say exactly? Lying was bad, but she didn't want to end up getting sent out of the store..
Reacting to it calmly and not suddenly going all nervous would be a better reaction, here. The last thing Izumi wanted was to draw unneeded amounts of attention to herself.
"Err... I was..." Another awkward silence ensued, as Izumi attempted to get something across. "I was just interested in these dresses. Particularly as well... in the future at least, I do expect myself to be wearing one, in the longer run of things, so I am just looking."
Izumi did not know exactly what was the correct thing to say, and just went with what she assumed, would be the best response, although suddenly justifying herself made it seem more like she was being asked what she was exactly up to, in a place like this. Logically, at least... what purpose was she here for besides just looking? If she was truly getting married, she'd either be a lot more excitable, or solemn, but she just felt in more of the observing mood right now, just to look at all the dresses, and chat with Misha about... whatever seemed to come up at the time.
Awkwardly staring back at the store assistant after speaking, Izumi broke eye contact, and looked to the side, towards Misha, blank expression on her face.

Misha stood aside for the time being - this was probably a good opportunity for Izumi, the baker reasoned. She stood aside, watching with a smile until it became clear that Izumi had hit her limit. Misha stepped forward, using her cane to announce her presence as she approached and intervened. "We are just simply browsing at the moment, letting our curiosities guide us for now," Misha said politely. Her voice and demeanor seemed to be transformed; here was the practiced ojou making her case. "Any wedding for either of us will be quite a few years into the future. But thank you for your assistance." The store assistant chuckled softly, apparently getting the hint. She bowed polite to Misha, saying, "If there is anything else I can help you with, please tell me," before turning and heading into the backroom to continue taking stock. Misha too, chuckled softly, watching the assistant disappear from view before dropping the façade with a sigh, looking down at the floor to reboot her mind before closing the gap between herself and Izumi. The chef stopped short barely a step or two away from Izumi and picked up her cane to hold it close to herself. There was a rather concerned, almost stern look on Misha's face as she spoke in a quiet and hushed tone. "I am aware of what I said and how I did put words into your mouth. But to me you read as someone who is...very eager to get married as soon as possible." Misha narrowed her eyes. "And frankly speaking, such a notion is quite...troubling."

"Troubling? I, am not so sure as to how you mean." Izumi's eyes widened, her tone a bit wavy in response to how she felt Misha's words were getting a bit more on the serious side of things. Looking back to the store assistant, and then back to Misha again.
What was so wrong about being eager to see the future? Enthusiasm was a good thing, right? Not as if it could ever backfire, if Izumi was at least ready for whatever was going to happen in her adult life. She'd already reiterated the fact she wasn't desperate to fall in love, but...
Going forward wasn't so bad... although said romantic interest Izumi was thinking about didn't exist, and Izumi had barely known anyone who she could consider somewhat more of an acquaintance beyond Misha. This was thinking very far ahead, after all.
It was better to experience something, and then find out she didn't like it, rather than never trying it out at all. If she couldn't rely on herself for what was considered common sense, mother would always be available to help her out in a pinch.
Minus the fact Izumi's mother was never married. That was one glaring problem. And the fact Izumi had never gotten into any sort of romantic relationship, let alone experienced feelings of attraction to anyone she'd met were two things among many, in her eyes.
But surely Misha knew better than Izumi herself, if she was questioning her friend's intent.
"Well... you would be correct about me being eager to get married. It's just a matter of who and when. If I truly believe that said individual among so many others, was the right one for me, I wouldn't rush the relationship, but I wouldn't exactly throw marriage out of the question that quickly? I like to be hopeful with this, at least. Being able to settle down with someone who you adore, it really does appeal to me." Izumi clasped her hands together, giving a faint smile in an attempt to reassure Misha she knew what she was doing.
"And, to think if I were to take things steadily enough, surely that wouldn't be such a troubling notion to you, unless I were to truly disregard everything pertaining to common sense and get married too early?"

Misha's expression softened a bit, then she sighed as Izumi tried to smile at her. While Izumi did seem to have a firm grip on the notion of looking before one leapt, Misha felt like she needed to be a bit more direct. At first, Misha opened her mouth as if to speak, but closed it, pausing for a few more moments to find her words. "So you get married. And then what...?" Misha asked. "Marriage is not simply a goal, or an item to check off one's list. And...perhaps I was unclear before. That was...is...and perhaps still lingering in the back of my mind, that you are treating it as such." There was a pause before the baker continued, her voice still soft but no longer whispering, speaking openly instead. "I have watched too many dive into a relationship only to find themselves miserable and regretful. They see others getting married and being happy and go - 'I want to do that too', not understanding what a momentous effort a relationship really is." Misha shook her head again and looked to Izumi, tilting her head slightly with a small smile. "And I would like for Izumi-san to avoid such a sordid fate. Find a friend who you can be comfortable with. Then the rest will follow." Misha tilted her head a little more and winked, her usual smiling demeanor returning to her face as she spun around and spoke in a more energetic tone. "Now, a change of topic, one of curiosity." The metal cane in her hand shifted slightly as the chef used the end of the handle to gently nudge at the loose sleeve of a nearby dress. "In terms of aesthetic design, does Izumi-san have any stated preferences?"

Ending up in a miserable relationship, was not one of Izumi's goals. And if so that mindset was going to lead to that, Izumi did not want to charge ahead before she knew what she was actually doing.
What Misha was saying did echo something akin to what her own mother would say, which was more evidence than needed to convince Izumi that her own approach to this was far from the best possible decision.
Sighing softly, Izumi decided to agree with changing the subject of their conversation. It wasn't worth it to try and argue a point she had no knowledge about, especially seeing that Misha was certainly more in sync with how things actually were, compared to Izumi's idealistic viewpoint to things. Without anything besides that, her eyes followed Misha's movements, resting upon the dress as she stepped a little closer to the closeby gown. "Well, I would be definitely sure with the preferences... something more princess-like, akin to a ballgown with long sleeves of sorts. As for the color, an ivory tone, or a white is perfectly in line... although having a black wedding gown does present its own aesthetics, I think it'd be quite confusing and somewhat off-putting to the guests in attendance... ivory is the preferred shade for me, unless I were to find myself betrothed to an individual with gothic tastes."
There were a lot of possibilities to choose... but, there were always those well-off families who tended to pick multiple gowns, so the bride would constantly be changing over and over, throughout the course of the festivities. That did sound appealing, but also laborious.. all for the sake of fashion. Not that Izumi's family was of a higher-class background, but if the possibility presented itself, Izumi would surely be one to take it.
"I think I'd be open to any choices picked out for me, though... As for yourself, Misha-chan? Anything that particularly calls out to you?"

Princess-like. Just what was that supposed to mean? Misha carefully let the sleeve she was holding up with her cane go slack again, as if any faster movement would cause the dress to spontaneously shatter. For a few moments, the baker clutched her case close to herself in though, her grey eyes unfocused as she tried to sort out what Izumi was telling her. The notion of a ballgown was not unfamiliar, but Misha considered it a relic of the past that ought the stay in the past. The very notion of balls and such fanciful affairs actually left a bitter taste in her mouth, a disdain she held alongside the rest of her family. But any feelings of disgust were washed away, another look of concern flashing on Misha's face as she glanced over to Izumi again. Izumi's continuous additions of exceptions was worrying and Misha could conjure up a thousand possible reasons, but she mentally tabled the matter and relaxed her expression. "Sadly, nothing does. This is...a whole realm that is a mystery to me," Misha replied, starting to chuckle. "According to my cousin, my mother Ekaterina wore a more traditional red dress for her wedding. Blood red, heavy clothes, and every inch of it laden with embroidery." The chef lifted her cane again, the handle pointing and barely caressing the shoulders of the mannequin adject to them. "It was as much a coat as it was a dress. Even though more and more women in Rossiya were starting to wear the white dresses, my mother did not. Or at least that what I have been told." Misha took a few steps back, holding her cane across herself. There was a grin as she sorted through her memories. "On the other hand, my mother Haru never had a wedding ceremony. She ran away from home to wed a man her parents disapproved over and start a bakery in Hachiouji. Rejected the pomp that came with the status of her family, this included." Misha gave a very vague wave of the hand, to indicate she was referring to the dresses. "So the aesthetics of this...is beyond me." "And now I sound like some relic from an old age, don't I?" Misha laughed. "But. What do you think I'd look good in?"

"Hmm... I.. well, I think you strike me as the minimalist sort... not like my own preferences. Something simple, but effective? We seem to have differing tastes in regards to what we'd prefer for our own weddings... I'm not sure how I'd describe what would suit you for the event in question, but I doubt it'd be hard to find something that'd suit you. Perhaps you don't even need to have a ceremony, as you'd just mentioned a few moments ago.. perhaps you could ask the store assistant? Perhaps she'll be able to pick something suitable for both of us, as I'm open to suggestions myself." Izumi's tone was half-serious. A mention of Russia. Izumi didn't really know too much about other countries, but Misha-chan's phone case did add up. Her first friend was also Russian? That made things unique, and she couldn't help but smile after she spoke.
"I'm not exactly up-to-date with fashion. I only refer to the ballgown style, as it happens to be one of the few I happen to be familiar with, or rather prefer. I'm sure there's something that appeals to both of our tastes, but I cannot personally put a definite decision on what would suit either of us, Misha-chan."
A heavy dress, more like a coat, did not exactly mix well with the Okinawan weather. Not that she paid attention in particular to weddings, but her knowledge was at least intact enough to put two and two together. While the notion of something fit for appearances, was Izumi herself befitting of the princess-like appearance? Perhaps not so, unless she was marrying someone of an upper-class standing, again thinking much too far in advance. Again, it would be easier to ask others.
"Then again, I do not have confidence that I myself can fulfil the mannerisms of a princess type... I enjoy simple matters, and not those revolving around high society, not that I myself would be particularly suited to those." Izumi nonchalantly shrugged, smile still prevalent on her face, admitting defeat.

Misha raised her eye a bit in amusement the suggestion of minimalism. It was not that she necessarily disagreed; the snowflakes on her tights was already the upper limit of what Misha would tolerate in terms of flashiness, but that was more out of a desire to not stand out versus adhering to a specific aesthetic. "Izumi-san says that she prefers simpler matters, so I'd think in the end, we'd probably have similar preferences overall." Misha said, smiling back to Izumi. "And as someone who has had a peek or two at what life is like in high society, I'd like to assure you that you are not by any means missing anything. So much emphasis is placed on looking appropriate." Misha put air quotes around the last word, even though one of her hands was still holding her cane with the ring and pinky fingers. "You have to watch every step make, every word you say. Your goals and dreams are all set aside for the sake of the family or some other vague principle that they foist on you. So in the end, all those mannerisms, that grace...it's all fake." The baker gave a dismissive laugh as she shook her head before looking out the store's front window. "Back to the matter I'd say that the fashion zeitgeist is less important than finding something that you feel represents you the most. Perhaps instead of trying to emulate a princess, we find something that shows you off. That said..." Misha trailed off as she looked to Izumi. "Now. Do you really want to ask the assistant for advice? Or would you like to wander around somewhere else? For me, I think my curiosity has been gorged to the point of saturation and am ready to move on."

Well, if Misha explained it well enough... what was there to not believe? Expectations were not the best thing to ever really go off of, and with Izumi's recent experiences, Misha was much more in sync, and incredibly more experienced with a lot of things, owing to Izumi's near-reclusive history.
Perhaps not acting like things were always going to work out entirely perfectly, was a good idea. Not used to exactly getting things wrong, Izumi just wanted to... have fun? No, no, that was too simple. Rather, she wasn't too sure on what to do, with so many options, and Izumi herself not particularly having the time, nor expertise to start travelling the world as she'd considered.
She'd been at Fukui for a brief time, and things that she thought the knew, were increasingly further outside her knowledge. At least... people like Misha were helpful and tolerant enough to put things aside, and not make fun of her. Then again, this was a school with a reputation to uphold, so perhaps the students not being as rowdy compared to that public school in Okinawa explained itself.
Izumi shook her head, glancing towards the door. "I think... the assistant will not be too worried if we were to leave? You've convinced me that I should go at a slower pace, for my own sake, and probably for the convenience of others, I do not doubt mother would say something similar to this, or... rather, she'd be equally as confused as me in regards to weddings. Perhaps that's a conversation for a much, much later time, once things are clearer to understand.. I can't get married without someone to love... and as far as that's going, I have a long, long way to get going."
Izumi took a few glances at some of the other dresses, and then at the door, weakly smiling. "I think.. if I ever need to go here again for some reason, I can do it by myself. That saves us both the time pondering about things I barely understand."

It was a strange feeling to see Izumi so receptive of advice. Sure, Misha was relieved, but a worrying sense of doubt started to creep in - was Misha overstepping her bounds as a friend? She'd be no better than Izumi's mother then. Misha tilted her head and nodded in affirmation; in the end, Misha needed to have faith in her friend. Friend. Misha silently chuckled. Well, she Izumi really was a friend now, wasn't she. She glanced to the side where she spotted the shop assistant milling about and looking at another dress before focusing on Izumi again. "Don't worry about my time, Izumi-chan. Any time spent enjoying with a friend is not a waste." Misha said, walking towards the door with a spring in her step. "But it is time we take our leave." At the door, Misha turned around, raising her free hand to wave at the assistant. "Thank you very much, and take care." Misha called out, smiling politely. She waited for the assistant to wave back before pushing the door open, a soft chime from the bell announcing her egress. She held the door open for Izumi, waiting for her to exit first before following after. Once the door closed, the baker seemed to deflate a little as she sighed, grinning slightly as she looked to Izumi again. "Haa...well, to run a shop, you need to set an atmosphere. But think a place like that is a bit overwhelming for our sensibilities, isn't it?" Misha laughed more freely, walking slowly and ambling side to side as she caught up with Izumi. "Is there anything else you wished to see, Izumi-chan?" Misha asked, looking about with her cane dragging playfully against the sidewalk. "Beyond maybe looking at groceries, I think my sense of adventure has been...exhausted."

"Exhausted is one way of putting it.. I am hungry, and also wanting to sit down among various other things, Misha-chan. And yes, although I would consider calling it overwhelming a bit of an understatement particularly on my behalf. I feel like in some other reality, I'd have ended up causing a bit of a scene with how unprepared I am. At least now, I know."
The thought of grocery shopping seemed simple, yet enticing, and something more simplistic was a much easier thing to do, rather than ponder about the future, love, marriage, and anything that came or went with it. "Sure! Which grocery store are we going to? There are quite a few in this area, if my assumptions and faint memories are correct, it shouldn't be too hard to encounter one. I could use some water myself."
And if there was ever an issue, Izumi could just return to the store. Not that she'd be needing to sometime soon, but visiting could be a nice experience, as well as being able to make a new friend, perhaps. It always did help to know people, after all, just not that she'd ever really expect to chat to a bridal store assistant, of all the people in Fukui city. Mother did recommend that Izumi make some friends, and she was doing well enough so far, with Misha-chan, and Satou-san. Perhaps if she kept going, she could be friends with Misha's entire family. That notion was nice, but also somewhat amusing, and she'd have to wait and just see, and it wasn't polite to start intruding on someone else's familial matters so, there wasn't much point in bringing it up just yet, although she likely would bring up her friendship with Misha-chan, if she managed to find Satou-san again.
"I would like some oranges among other items, I think. I imagine there'd be a convenience store along the way back to our dorms."

Hungry, sitting down, water, oranges. Well, the sitting down would have to be done a bit later, as the other three were much more easily handled. Misha glanced across the park then lifted her cane to point at the other side. "Thankfully, we have something better than a konbini. There's a department store over there, which ought to be on our way back home," Misha said with a smile before setting her cane back down and leaning against it. "I don't think there was any groceries that I needed for myself or Mashiro-chan, but now that you've brought up oranges, I wonder if they are on sale. Perhaps we can peek at any other deals as well."Once more, Misha lead the way across the street and into the park, crossing quickly but slowing down to a more relaxed amble as they cross through the park's gates. The spring season afforded many more daylight hours which the locals were all to keen on taking advantage of. The benches along the stone path were filled with people of all ages, though there were quite a few couples sitting conspicuously close to each other, prompting a soft chuckle from Misha. But even with such an easy pace, Misha could see the other end of the pack quickly come into view. An elderly couple passed, smiling brightly to the two of them, which Misha replied with a polite bow of the head before looking forward. The department store and supermarket that they had passed on the way to the bakery was still teeming with people entering and exiting - perhaps even busier now. Misha paused at the edge of the park sidewalk, not yet crossing. An irrational fear briefly flashed through her mind - surely Izumi-chan was familiar with these kinds of stores, right? Even in the most remote places in Japan, they still had something like this? No, no, Izumi-chan will be able to take care of herself. The baker glanced at Izumi, reaching into her own pockets to pull out her cell phone. "Ah, right, Izumi-chan has her cell phone on her, right?" Misha asked. "In case we want to split up while inside."

Izumi paused, and turned around to face Misha.
"My phone?"
She instinctively felt her pockets, and didn't feel anything that was hiding inside of there. Well, that was unfortunate. Did Izumi really use her phone that much outside of the entertainment value? Apparently not so, which explained why it wasn't with her right now. Or she just forgot, likely the latter.
However, the time spent dawdling was time wasted, and better used with putting things into action.
"Err... it's in my room? I didn't plan on needing it.. sorry." Izumi shook her head.
"In order to not cause an incident, I believe it'd be better for the both of us to stick together closely.. or have a solid plan. I don't think I can guess how long things will be if I was to wander off and do something, so I won't proceed with that plan, Misha-chan."
Not that it was likely she'd get lost, unless it was much, much bigger than she was expecting? Fukui prefecture wasn't anything Izumi really knew about before enrolment. And seeing how Tokyo and Osaka were likely the busiest places, surely Izumi wouldn't get lost in a store of all things? Then again, it was probably much better to just..
There were several options that presented themselves.
A) Go exploring in the store? B) Stick with Misha? C) Run home?
Some of the two possibilities just sounded like a way to get scolded, or end up causing a dilemma that Izumi was not intending to get herself involved with.
Some quick thinking ensued, and it would just be easier to stick with Misha. Perhaps they could find something of notable interest.. not that Izumi particularly wanted anything else besides oranges, and maybe a few things if they caught her eye.. why did stores always put the things she liked when they were near the checkout? It seemed cruel, almost.
"I will stay closely behind, in front, or near you, Misha-chan."

In shock, Misha's blue-grey eyes blinked as she tried to process the fact that Izumi didn't have her cell phone the entire time. It was hard to believe - wouldn't living out in the countryside be all the more reason to have a means of contact, Misha reasoned? It took a visible deep breath from the baker for her to realign her thoughts. She never thought too much about it, but from Saint Petersburg to Tokyo, Misha realized that in the end, she had always been a city girl and was really in no position to judge Izumi for her differences. "Izumi-chan is really laid-back isn't she?" Misha asked with a soft and airy chuckle as she pocketed her phone again. "Though don't worry about exactly where you are relative to me. As long as we can easily contact each other, or even just find each other quickly, we'll be fine." The baker ran her fingers through her pale blonde hair with a grin. "If anything, I should be easy enough to spot right?"There weren't many cars on the road, but there certainly were quite a few people crossing the street with them and heading into the supermarket. Misha glanced towards Izumi with a smile just before they passed through the doors, then focused on the barrage of signs posted all about the entryway, declaring what was on sale at the moment. The baker easily mentally filtered out the crowd about her; while there market was definitely getting full and navigation required a little bit of caution to not bump into someone, it was nowhere near something like a department store during Tokyo rush hour. Unsurprisingly, various sweets and snacks were on display en route to the produce section. A tactic too effective in Misha's view, who shook her head in disappointment, muttering "Yumeko-chan and Mashiro-chan already have enough sweets," before picking up a basket and wandering the aisles between the produce crates. There really wasn't any sale in particular, but that did free up her choices for what to make for the weekend - if anything at all. Almost too many choices. Then, an idea. Misha looked around quickly for Izumi again and approached her roommate with a grin. "Izumi-chan? I wonder. Which would be a more welcomed surprise in terms of a meal? Something familiar, like something you had back at home with family? Or something a bit more...well. Different? Untested, or maybe had once or twice?"

Busy, but not so busy at all. Perhaps the phones wouldn't be so necessary, after all. Hopefully not.
Nodding, Izumi elaborated. Perhaps it was now time to try something that wasn't too common for her. Always good to get more knowledge, experience.. or just find anything else that was useful at least. "Well... anything that isn't too complex for yourself, I suppose? I am open to trying out something new, anyway! Surprises are welcome."
"And, this store isn't too busy? At least.. compared to downtown Naha. Mother always went early, and I've since picked up on that mannerism. It just feels better to be able to go into a store, know what you want already, purchase said products, and be out within the next five to ten minutes. Would you agree this is a good thing to keep in mind, Misha-chan?"
Again, Izumi did tend to follow her mother's habits. From what she'd told Misha, her own mother was quite the busy type, yet had managed to take just enough time out to make sure Izumi had good mannerisms for the most part, along with some sporadic, trivial, yet occasionally useful knowledge when it came to situations that called for. However, Misha-chan's wisdom was starting to take form in regards to Izumi's decision making, namely with not rushing into things, just like earlier, as it was better to be hesitant about making decisions, before jumping into them. Especially when it came to relationships, although Izumi was expecting to just.. either find herself in such a predicament with whoever took her interest, or something similar.
"Ooh.. do you have any recipes from home? I am eager to learn more about Rossiya, if you have the time and don't find that too intrusive, Misha-chan." And.. if today went well enough, that habit of learning things could be extended to more about Russia, seeing as Izumi knew almost nothing about it, besides the approximate location.

A pick for something outside the norm but still rather simple? Misha's mood hovered around having a soup, so she decided on Shchi, or rather a variant of it. Being in the produce section, she headed right for the core ingredient: cabbage. As she looked over the pile of cabbages on the shelf, the baker still listened to Izumi's stories, nodding slightly at the notion of going for groceries at a time to prevent getting caught in the crowd, but glancing towards Izumi with a raised eyebrow at notion of a quick in-and-out trip. It wasn't that she necessarily disagreed, but any elaboration would have to wait as a second question came up. "I do have recipes, though there is a little bit of a caveat," Misha replied, trailing off as she grabbed a plastic bag for the head of cabbage she had picked. "When I tend to cook Russian food, it's generally from memory, so I really don't have anything written down that I can hand to you. The actual written recipes are..." She took a deep breath, her face clearly showing that she was deep in thought, even as she walked along the shelves to the carrots. "It is a bit of a long story. I have at my family's home in Hachiouji City a small subset of my mother's recipes, translated from Russian to Japanese. I am sure that her other notebooks that she left behind also have recipes, but I have not had the opportunity to go through them. While I am the legal owner of my family's estate, I asked my cousin in America to hold onto it for now." Misha paused so she could focus on picking out some carrots, then moved onto the tomatoes, continuing to explain as she picked out the vegetables. "But even then, those notes were my mother writing down the vague instructions my grandmother was telling her, which was what my great-grandmother told her, and so on. No measurements for ingredient amounts or time. And even then, my mother changed a few things." Misha grinned and looked to Izumi as she gestured for Izumi to follow, heading towards the meat section. "But that's what makes cooking special. You don't need to go in with a detailed plan. You can tweak things a bit. Maybe you're in the mood for a slightly different flavour. Or maybe some ingredient just isn't available. Sometimes...you just want to explore a bit, instead of rushing to get it all cooked in five to ten minutes." tag(s): Izumi Shiraishi ━ words: 000 ━ notes: While not exactly this recipe, this is what Misha is planning to make: link

"No rush, Misha-chan!" Izumi exclaimed, somewhat loudly and with a clear tone of excitement to her voice. "We can.. just.. err... go along, and.." Izumi found her own words coming to a pause, and then a slow crawl, lips parted, trying to think of something to say, but just coming up blank. "You should be fine enough, no?" An awkward smile formed on her lips, before she turned away to scan her surroundings yet again, an eye out for anything that caught her eye. Of course, if it was something she really, really wanted to buy, she'd be drawn like a moth to flame..
Moving on, food. Just what exactly did they eat in Russia? It couldn't be anything too unfamiliar, at least in a fishing town or something? Okinawa had its abundance of seafood, and Izumi never really tended to tire of it, at least compared to animals that weren't fish.
From what she'd remembered about staring at a map in class a few times, Russia tended to be less coast, and more land. So, something like beef? Chicken? Pork? Possibly a stew of sorts was what Izumi was expecting. But still, she'd let herself be surprised with all of the ingredients Misha was gathering so far.
She'd peek at the contents of the basket, before slowing down a bit, just to take note of where they were. Of course, not being too familiar with the city itself, besides the school and bridal store.. it was a great privilege to be sharing a dorm with someone who was familiar enough with their surroundings, and a sisterly air to her. Not that Izumi had any siblings, but it felt nice to have someone else looking out for her.
Still, it was always nice to know more than just one person, perhaps assemble a friend group or something? Hesitating to speak, she turned to face Misha yet again, silence passing for a few brief moments before she spoke up yet again.
"So, Misha-chan, a little bit out of nowhere but... you're acquainted enough with some of the others in our year, aren't you? Do you suppose it'd be possible to introduce me to them in the future?"

Izumi-chan said no rush, but perhaps it really was time for Misha to finally sort through what her family had left behind. She picked up a potato from the towering pyramid in front of her, thinking both of why she considered her mother's own journals a pandora's box and whether or not she should go with potatoes with the shchi. The baker picked up another potato with the other hand, and started to lift each one, as if trying to feel their weights. But her focus was less on the potatoes. On one hand was Haru Shirayama, and the other was Katerina Sondrin. Though Misha was to young to remember much of her birth mother, she did not wish to say that Katerina was less important. But how do you strike the balance there? In the end, Misha put both potatoes back into the pile and gestured for Izumi to follow, heading towards the meat section. She was grateful for the change in topics after the silence. "Of course," she replied, finally smiling again. "I'd be glad to. That said, I'd like to think that I know better than to just throw you at anyone our year. Not everyone will get along, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. However, I do want to ask why specifically you want someone in our year. Indeed, it might be easier if schedules align, but I'd like to think that you'd find a way to make time for a friend, right?" The crowd was starting to get a little thicker, and Misha had to keep glancing over to make sure that Izumi was still in sight even until she was standing in front of the the refrigerated shelves. There was no sale on beef, or really any meat or that matter, but the baker wasn't in the mood to use chicken, so she started to pick through a few cuts of pork as she resumed talking. "I ask because I do have someone in mind who I'd like you to meet. She's in the Performing Arts department like you, but is a dance major. She is also a second year. On the surface, she may seem a bit...well." Misha huffed in amusement, holding up a likely candidate for the stew. "I believe the word the other girls use is 'princely'. But she's far sharper and mature that what she may look like." Placing the tray in the basket with the rest of the vegetables, Misha looked over to Izumi with a grin and a wink.

That was a surprise, to say the least. Questions would be raised, but which ones were the best to start asking with?
"Princely..." Well.. that certainly was an interesting way to describe a second year, seeing as Izumi had some form of perception during her previous encounter with Satou-san. "Hmm..."
Silence then followed Izumi's comment, as she drifted off into some deeper thoughts. Well, said person sounded like someone Izumi could read about in one of her books, except for the fact they were real, and not hopelessly entangled in some circumstances beyond their control. Still, it'd be fun to meet someone else. Especially so, if Misha had suggested, of all the people she'd possibly get along with, besides herself, of course.
And that wink from Misha only made things even more curious. "So... I don't think I've met someone doing any dance majors.. it'd be.. interesting..." Izumi kept pausing, her lips forming a faint smile. "And neither do I know how to dance- I suppose that's out of the question anyway."
It'd be best to not focus on daydreaming yet again, seeing how that led Izumi to drag the both of them to look at wedding gowns, and other perceptions being shattered, namely the fact Izumi was a bit too eager to go ahead with quite a lot of things someone her age would most definitely have second thoughts about.
However, she couldn't resist learning just a bit more information, especially when it was someone that Misha approved of, which was unlike the whole rushing into marriage strategy.
It was easier to just get on with it, rather than think too much about the question itself, rather than just asking it. Especially when Misha-chan was so responsive.
"Misha-chan.. now that you mention it, please can you elaborate on who this ‘prince’ is?" Izumi tilted her head, stepping forward just a slight bit closer, most likely to not stand in the way of anyone else who may be passing by.
