Without music, life would be a mistake.

The sounds of Mashiro making her way to the front entrance of the Music building echoed through the hallways, mixing with clatter of the falling rain outside. It was another productive day, as evidenced by the paper-stuffed backpack snugly resting on her back and her keyboard and stand (an ensemble which stood almost as tall as the one carrying it) in its bag slung over her left shoulder.
On her other shoulder was her favorite extra large umbrella, carried in her hands and shoulder like an impromptu sword. All and all, she carried much more than her ghostly appearance suggested she could, and she silently thanked her time lifting goods in her family's shop. From the hurried pace of her footsteps, the hood of her cobalt-blue rain jacket had fallen down, and at this point it was too much of a hassle to pull it back up with her hands more or less full with keeping her luggage in check.
Once at the front entrance of the Music Building, Mashiro paused to observe the sky above her. Summer was slowly yielding to autumn, but not without a fight. Another wave of thunderstorms had rolled into the town of Fukui, darkening the sky where the sun had almost fully set. For all the times the weather app on her phone failed to predict rain, it was at least reliable enough that when it said the rain would come, it actually came. With a triumphant smile, Mashiro shifted the grip on her umbrella and held it forward. As cheesy as it was, she always enjoyed watching the umbrella's action spring to life and expand.

Repeated clicks and a groan painted a picture of confused frustration. Of all times the thing had to malfunction it was this? Tapping the tip of the umbrella against the ground had no effect, nor did trying to manually move the runner.
"So...it's the bottom spring, isn't it," Mashiro sighed, deducing the cause of the malfunction. "Well, it was an old umbrella and was due to be replaced anyways. Maybe Cyrus-nii can make me one?"
It wasn't as if Mashiro was totally out of options. Yumeko could bring an umbrella from the dorms...but that mean asking a blind girl to go out in deafening rain. The piano's bag was waterproof, albeit cumbersome, but was likely the best option if no one else could help. After a moments of deliberation, the pianist chose to gamble on the presence of other students, turning around to scan for anybody.
