Fukui was significantly larger than Ayaka's little hometown in Yamagata. Which meant that the local media stores almost certainly had to have more offerings than her local little bookstore. The thought of so many more books about the adventures of any of the crews was enough to have her skipping out of school after classes. Of course, her definition of 'more offerings' was probably more accurate translated as 'literally anything.'
Opening the shop's door sent a little bell ringing, but before the ringing had ceased with the door's shutting, Ayaka was already practically across the store in the science fiction section. Her eyes scanned the shelves, trying to figure out one key detail. "Is it by author or is it by universe? Or both?" She was hoping for the latter, searching author by author would be a pain and a half but she would do it if she had to! Practically vibrating with excitement as she scanned along the shelf, only to let out a squeal when she saw a name she recognized on the shelf.
"Yes, yes, YES!" she squealed, pulling the book out of the shelf in about two seconds. Her delighted squeeing suddenly cut off as she remembered where she was and she blushed, glancing around. "Sorry..." she said, trying to pacify the people around her, the copy of Before Dishonor clutched against her chest. "Just been looking for this for ages!" Aya's excitement now contained to a delighted but quiet tone, she kept scanning the shelves and bouncing in place as she looked for other books in her favorite universe.

| I don't care ✘ what you think as long as it's about me Riko was more a gamer than a reader, though visual novels occupied enough of a niche in between that she had a few. But an online contact she had from America had recommended some series called 'Honor Harrington' that was apparently rather popular among dedicated sci-fi fans, if Riko had understood correctly; indeed, said friend wouldn't shut up about it, not that Riko had asked her to. So her curiosity had gotten the better of her, and after calling ahead, she'd learned that the store did, in fact, have the book. So she'd gone to retrieve it.
A scan of the shelves, and she'd found the book she'd been looking for. On a lower shelf, granted, but, still. Riko bent down to pluck it from its neighbors, when a quick-moving fellow pinkette pullled a book off the shelf so quickly that a losely secured book fell... on Riko's head. A hard covered one, causing Riko to let out a quick 'Kya!', thankfully only after she had her own book in hand.
Riko wasn't injured by it, but it had smarted a bit. Clutching the book with her free hand, Riko rubbed her head slightly. That had been a heavy book, and one of the corners had hit her, doing about as much damage as a falling stack of paper could - which is to say, painful, but not a ton.
A couple of people watched her, but she just brushed it off, "Well, this trip was a bit more hazardous than I originally expected."

In her initial excitement to have found a book of her fandom, Ayaka hadn't realized the effect she had had on a fellow shopper. It was only the red-headed girl's comment about the trip being more hazardous than expected that had drawn her attention to what had happened.
"Ohmygosh, I'm so sorry about that!" Aya's excitement about her find vanished as she blurted out her apology, grabbing the errant book (some fantasy epic that had been next to her book) and quickly slotting it back on the bookshelf. "I didn't even realize that happened, I was just so happy to find this book I guess I may have gotten a bit too excited... sorry again," she said, turning a little red from embarrassment.
"You're okay, right? Aya had to make sure she ain't accidentally done major damage in finding a book. That would be very bad for the both of them.

| I don't care ✘ what you think as long as it's about me "Well, I don't appear to be bleeding profusely, so I suppose that it's all alright." Riko answered. She'd probably be able to tell if she was, after all. There was still a mild stinging sensation whete the book had hit her, but it was the sort of thing that would pass within the next minute or two.
Riko took the errant book in hand, and stood up, managing to find where it had been, and was about to put it back - when she realized the book was the one that she'd been looking for. It was the first in the series, in fact, it seemed, "Well, I suppose that's an unorthodox way to find a book." she mentioned, before giggling slightly.
The girl clutched the book between her arm and her side, before looking at the trekkie, and smiling, "If I may ask, what book is it that has you so excited?"

It was a relief that any damage done was quite minor. Still, it did make Aya feel a little bad. But now that she knew she hadn't caused any major damage, her excitement about the book was reasserting itself, so she couldn't help but giggle along with the other girl when she realized the book that'd hit her was the one she'd been looking for. "Well, whatever works. Guess I helped more than hurt there then," she added, still chuckling a little.
Aya couldn't help but blush a little when attention turned to her book, the one that had started this whole thing to begin with. It wasn't that she was embarrassed about liking it, just that her over enthusiasm had dropped a book on the redhead. "Before Dishonor, it's part of the Star Trek EU, telling stories after the end of the series and movies and everything. I haven't been able to find this one and its been a bit of a problem because I've been trying to read them in order." Frustrating was probably a better word, mostly because it had held up her reading for several months at this point.

| I don't care ✘ what you think as long as it's about me Star Trek was more an American series, but she knew what the basic premise was, as well as who some of the main characters were, aaaaand that was about it. She'd never actually watched it, and it probably was one of the more popular American sci-fi exports to Japan. She smiled a bit at the other girl's enthusiasm.
"Yes, no harm, no foul, I suppose." Riko mentioned, "You must be a fairly large fan of the series to be searching after Europe-exclusive material, I suppose." Well, she was right on one count, though she sadly was unaware that EU stood 'Extended Universe' rather than 'European Union'.
She took another look at her own book, "One of my internet friends from America recommended the Honor Harrington series, which is why I'm here."
