◣◆◢ | Eww, I'm sweating, Mi-Yun whined to herself. It was nearing 85 degrees and there was no breeze or clouds to block the direct rays of sun shining down upon the PE students of Fukui Academy. The teacher had them out on the sand field playing beach volleyball, and Mi-Yun was anything but interested.
There's sand all over me, sticking to me because I'm sweating, my hair is frizzing, my makeup is running, why would they do this to me... She could almost shed a tear at the dishevelment coming upon her due to this heat and dreaded physical activity. She'd never enjoyed sports or any sort of fitness, usually just eating healthy and small portions kept her the figure she desired, and that way she could just sit inside and not have to be uncomfortable. The hatred for this class was written all over her face. She was pouting like a child and had her arms crossed over her waist.
"Korea, heads up!" Mi-Yun heard a voice call toward her. Before she knew it the white ball she'd been avoiding was heading right for her! She screamed and covered her head with her hands, letting the ball bounce off of her hands and directly into the face of the student next to her. It didn't even hit the blonde's head, it hit directly in her face.
Mi-Yun stood completely still, her hands over her mouth and her eyes almost bulging from her head. She was just praying at this girl was sweet and nice and lovely and wouldn't absolutely destroy Mi-Yun.
She hated sports. She HATED sports. And this was one of the reasons she wouldn't play them. |

You know what sports could use? More music. That would be really great. Music helped the British girl get into everything a little more. She even tended to study to a tune when she could. So there she was, out in the heat, her long hair tied in a ponytail, darkened from sweat, wearing her now sand-covered PE clothes and being forced into volleyball. She'd enjoyed softball when she was younger, but volleyball had always escaped her. Except for when it didn't. In this case, the volleyball veered right for her as the girl next to her let out a squeal and defended herself from her round attacker. She'd had enough time to turn, but not enough time to do much else before the next thing she knew, her face hurt and she was sprawled on the sand with several girls standing over her to make sure she was okay. " What just...?" Ugh. She hated that copper smell. Even when her nose didn't bleed she could almost smell it when she got hit in the face hard enough. Was her nose bleeding? Without even getting up, Melody checked. She seemed okay... somehow. With a little help from another student, Melody stood up, her brain still reeling from the hit. "You know," Melody commented dryly, "I think they forget how much more dangerous warning people can be...""Miss Seonu, take Miss Black to the bench and make sure she's okay," the teacher ordered. Obviously she didn't think it was too bad, or she might have ordered them to go to the nurse. That was good... at least Melody wasn't going to be scarred for life from a game of volleyball. Miss Seonu? Yeah that was the name of the girl who had deflected the ball. Melody's eyes shifted to the girl, who had her hands covering her mouth. It had obviously been an accident. The blond girl wanted to yell, but that part of her who didn't want to be a jerk got the better of her. "You know, That's got to be one of the more effective ways to get a girl's attention..." she stated instead, rubbing her poor nose. TAG: Mi-Yun Seonu | ;3 No killing today, fortunately.

◣◆◢ | "I-I'm so sorry!" Mi-Yun squeaked out a nervous appology from behind her hands. Everyone was staring at the situation and surrounding the hurt girl. She was looking for the red color of blood possibly, but didn't see any from the angle she was at. Maybe... maybe it wasn't so bad? No one had beat her up yet, so it was hopeful.
Gathering courage, the brunette walked towards the girl to see more of the damage. She looked more confused and dizzy than anything else.
"Miss Seonu, take Miss Black to the bench and make sure she's okay," she heard the teacher bark. Mi-Yun nodded vigorously and offered the girl an arm to pull her up. Offered in the terms of just grabbing and yanking the girl up in more of a panic.
"A-are you okay?" she cooed, talking closely and quietly to the girl. "I'm so sorry!" Please don't kill me, she wanted to say. Although the girl reacted kindly and didn't seem to be angry, she was still nervous that when coming to her senses she would realize the damage done and... who knows what could happen.
Gently and nervously she lead the blonde girl to the bench at the side of the field. It was metal and a little hot to sit on, but luckily it had a back for the girl to lay against if she needed extra support. Mi-Yun helped her sit and stay steady. She didn't say anything right away, only looked at the girls face for signs of bleeding or bruising. She wondered if maybe this should be a trip to the nurse?
Upon looking over her face she noticed the soft pretty details of the blonde's features. Her big brown eyes, the flush of her cheeks... she looked away before she started staring. Nervously, her finger twirled around her hair and started to knot the long brown curls. She didn't quite feel right to start a conversation, so she sat quiet next to the girl and waited to see if she need anything else...

Continuing to rub her nose, Melody looked at the admittedly cute girl with one eye open. Her nose was sore, but she thought it was okay. With luck nothing would bruise... she didn't bruise too easily. One could never be sure though. After she was sat down, she stopped poking, as it occurred to her that it might accidentally make Mi-Yun feel worse. "It's fine, I swear. Volleyball puts me to sleep too... ugh, and the sand. It gets... just everywhere." she immediately went to work brushing some of the sand off of her clothes. The look she was getting from the brunette girl gave her pause after a moment. She looked away pretty quickly, but... wasn't hair twirling a sign of nervousness for some reason? 'Heh. It'd be interesting if it was because she, a girl, actually liked me... but that can't be it. I've been getting these thoughts a lot since I got away from Mom and Dad. She probably just feels bad.' "Well, you've got my attention now," she told the girl with a wink. The wink caused her to blush, since she was forcing herself to be more outgoing than she normally was. "I admit I've met people in less pleasant ways since coming here," she rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, "But ah, I'm Melody."She stopped her nervous rubbing and looked Mi-Yun in the eyes properly. "And you're Mi-Yun, right?" She had to look away when her cheeks flushed a bit. So many cute girls here... "It's ah, nice to meet you."

◣◆◢ | Mi-Yun swore she turned the color of a tomato at the words of the girl next to her. She was so suave and able to speak well, how did she do it?! And the wink she gave... Mi-Yun had to look away. This was becoming to much for her. She had to distract herself - she had to do something else and not think about this girl and her cute face. Internally she was becoming more and more frustrated.
"Yeah, I'm Mi-Yun," she spoke, looking anywhere but at the blonde. "I'm sorry about hitting you in the face...Melody..." she addressed her by name to sound more apologetic, but it probably just sounded more awkward than anything else. Inside her head was screaming. Maybe if she got up and made a run for it, the girl would accept it and never speak to her again. Also she could quit gym class forever. The idea was slowly becoming more tempting.
After a slow breath in and out, Mi-Yun started to calm down. She felt like a wreck. She was sweating off her make-up, embarrassing herself, and getting nervous around girls. This wasn't how she imagined going to Fukui would be. She just wanted to escape her past and make music. Was that too much to ask?
"Are you sure you're feeling okay?" she asked, in a calmer voice and looking at least in the girl's direction. "I can take you to the nurse - or at least help you to your next class. It's the least I could do..."
"Come on girls, class is almost over," the teacher swung her arm and invited them to follow the class inside to change back into their usual uniforms. Mi-Yun stood from where she was sitting and offered a hand to Melody. |

Melody watched the other girls finish up the volleyball game; her team seemed to be doing just as well without them. So much for being the MVP of the match. "Please," she glanced back at Mi-Yun, "stop apologizing. It was an accident, right? It's fine." As the words 'it's fine' escaped her lips, Melody grinned a little at Mi-Yun. "I mean, nothing's broken, and as far as I know I don't have a massive bruise where my face should be." Yeah... that had sucked last year. She'd rather not relive that little experience with everyone staring at her. It had been bad enough when everyone discovered she liked girls and started teasing her all the time. she might have a small bruise; nothing like what it could have been, thankfully. "Besides, I should have been paying more attention too. I got on this train of thought about having music with me and then I didn't react in time to avoid getting hit."Mi-Yun had offered to take her to the nurse, or to her next class, or whatever, and about that time, the teacher called them to go get changed so they could make it to wherever they had to be next; Melody just had lunch, so she wasn't in any hurry. "Look," her tone was soft, but insistent, "We'll both feel better after we clean up a bit, right?"Melody got up, offering a hand to Mi-Yun. She was feeling better already; she'd just needed a moment to recover from the shock of it all. Now she could use a few to get the sand out of her everywhere; falling down into it hadn't exactly helped with that. "Meet me when you're done, and maybe we could, I dunno, walk to lunch or somewhere. I don't care. To be honest I'm not really hungry. I wouldn't mind a little company, though... wherever you want to walk me."Besides, Melody didn't want to go to the nurse. She'd always hated going to the nurse. Yes, it was always good to get checked up on after an accident - especially one where she couldn't even remember getting hit, but she was sure she was fine. Melody started to walk towards the locker rooms. She'd meet up with Mi-Yun in a few minutes; she could get ready pretty quickly. For now though, she simply discarded the entirely too dirty PE clothes, and hopped into the shower quickly. There was no way she was leaving this room looking and smelling like she'd just washed up from a desert island. A few minutes later though, she emerged from the locker room, fully dressed, her hair damp (and consequently behaving a little more... temporarily,...) and her muscles a little sore. Hopefully Mi-Yun hadn't already snuck out or something. She was pretty cute, and Melody was hoping to make sure she wouldn't feel bad. It had been an accident, after all. It even turned out she was pretty nice, in addition to the whole... cute thing. Not that it mattered. She was just getting herself worked up over nothing. ...And now Melody was blushing while she waited. Mi-Yun Seonu | The end of PE is always the best part.

◣◆◢ | Her heartbeat quickened at the thought of spending more time with Melody. She was sure the girl wouldn't even want to have her sit beside her after that hit in the face, but now she asked her to take a walk with her? She twirled her hair more nervously (nearly getting her finger caught) as she walked back to the locker rooms to change.
She and Melody split their own ways to their own lockers. Mi-Yun changed very quickly - nearly throwing her tshirt and shorts off and sliding on her uniform back on. She brushed the skirt straight and adjusted her tie. Looking a mirror she could see her make-up didn't look as melted as she'd thought, but her blushing cheeks were really bad. And the knot in her hair - unnacceptably obvious. She finger brushed it out in a huff and slapped her cheeks in frustration. What was wrong with her? Cute girls had no effect on her - she was sure!!
Walking out of the locker room, Mi-Yun stood by the exit door to wait for Melody. Her next class wasn't until 3:15 so she had a good three hours to spend. What would they do for three hours? What she say? Would she say something silly? Her mind raced.

Melody jumped slightly when the other girl appeared. Somehow she'd been faster than Mi-Yun, thankfully. "Oh! Hey Mi-Yun." It was silly of her. She knew what her roommate thought of her, but Melody was like a kid in a candystore, only she was a lesbian in a girl's academy. There were a lot of nice girls here, many of which were pretty, and Mi-Yun was both nice and pretty. "I was thinking, maybe we could walk somewhere or something. You know, somewhere a bit more shady than where we got stuck outside. Not the biggest fan of sweating or being covered in sand."She grinned, trying to hide her blush by looking away rather quickly. Girls were all trying to go to lunch right now. Melody would rather explore and get something off of the campus when she was a little hungrier. She had the smallest of bruises by now, but she didn't hold it against Mi-Yun. She knew a lot of girls who would have reacted similarly... and forced physical activity may be good for them, but that didn't mean they would be into it. "I hope I didn't worry you too much," she admitted when the pair started walking. "I was more surprised than anything, I think. I'm fine now." Why was she the one apologizing again? She was apparently just too extra nice to pretty girls now that she'd moved. "So, what do you come here for?" Melody asked, attempting a bit of nervous small talk. She realized once again she sounded like she was asking why someone came to a prison again. She really needed to watch her wording. TAG Mi-Yun Seonu

◣◆◢ | Mi-Yun wore a tiny pout on her face as Melody talked about the accident again. She still felt nervous about it, but as time was passing that feeling began to fade. It was simply hard to know for sure that Melody really thought it was okay or if she harbored some type of anger somehow... She liked to believe this girl was genuine, but trust was hard to come by.
She was stuck in her thoughts when Melody asked a question. "O-oh! Um," she paused nervously, "I'm a songwriter, but I can also sing and play guitar!" She offered a nice smile and tried to add some pep in her step. "How about you? You look like the singing type to me! I mean, your voice is already so nice, it must be great for singing...!" She trailed off a little, starting to turn red. She didn't mean to sound like she was flirting or something - did she sound like that?! She twirled at her hair again.
As they reached the outdoors, Mi-Yun looked around for a good place to walk. There was a stone path that lead around the school from building to building. They could walk that if they wanted, or they could be more adventurous and walk around the school park. She didn't know if she should lead or if Melody wanted to, so she just started walking and waited to see if she'd be followed or if Melody would go another way. |

Melody simply followed Mi-Yun as she walked, blushing slightly at the compliment. "Well, I'm not exactly a singer. More of a guitarist," she admitted. "I'm taking singing classes too, though, so I can do both. Singing's fun." She wrote her own songs sometimes, though more than anything she enjoyed writing the music itself, followed by playing it. Not all music required words, after all.
"I admit," she tapped her chin in nervous thought. "Your voice is perfect. Maybe not for like, metal or something, but you've gotta be way better than me in that department. I should play a song you could sing to at some point." Melody could play all sorts of styles, and she was sure there was something the pair would both like. Melody liked metal and other rock and roll styles best, but she could appreciate classics and things too, right?
Melody was still new to this whole 'social' thing. What did she say after that? What did she do after that? It was complicated to talk to people and make friends. It worked so much better when she wasn't trying, like Shion. The problem was... she wanted to try. She wanted nice friends like Mi-Yun after all.

◣◆◢ | "You think it's perfect?!" Mi-Yun squeaked, letting a big smile grow across her face. She hadn't had anyone say as kind of a compliment before, and certainly not from anyone who she was starting to admire. "I would love to sing for you! We could even write a song together if you like to write! I love writing out lyrics, but I'm still just okay at musical composition..." She was practically rambling at this point, talking much louder than she meant to and was moving her hands in excited gestures to match her tone. She didn't even stop to think how silly she must have looked. Her passion for music and lyric writing had taken over, and it was almost impossible for her to stop now.
"...and I usually just sing with a piano behind me for the more somber stuff, and a light guitar and drum track for the lighter stuff." Mi-Yun giggled, feeling a tad embarrassed that she was just rambling and couldn't stop. She was probably speaking too fast as well - was Melody getting all this?!
"A-anyway! We don't have to make a song if you don't want... we just met and everything and who knows what would happen!" The brunette chucked and ran a hand through her curled hair. She had to always remind herself not to jump on every little spark of an idea that excited her. But man was that hard... |

"Sure," Melody nodded, "I'm sure we can do something soon." She wasn't as good at lyrics as she was writing the music itself, but it wasn't that important if she was writing with someone who knew what she was doing as well as Mi-Yun probably was. Besides, an excuse to make a new friend at least was always welcome. It wasn't like she had many. Melody had... her roommate, Marie, and apparently maybe Mi-Yun. It was a pretty good start though, considering she didn't have any real friends at her old school. Mi-Yun seemed to lose her nerve and said they didn't have to do something if Melody didn't want to. "No, no! It's fine," Melody insisted with a grin. "I'd love to do something. If I didn't love guitar I wouldn't be here you know, and making friends is a bonus." Since when was Melody so good at finding nice words for people? it caused her to pause. It was like she'd transformed into a different person. Though... admittedly who she'd been before hadn't been the real her. TAG: Mi-Yun Seonu | short post. ran out of idea on what to write suddenly x3

◣◆◢ | Mi-Yun couldn't help her smile as they continued to walk. She always got so excited planning compositions with others - she'd always just made music by herself at home, so this was new and exciting and she couldn't wait to hear how other people could add to her sound. Music was such a personal outlet to her, it was almost as if collaborating was like sharing a part of her innermost self... She bit her lip. How sappy, she thought, it's just a song...
Since it seemed like Melody was following her, Mi-Yun started to lead her around the pathways of the school park. Even eventually they would pass by the volleyball field where it all started. She couldn't quite giggle about it yet, the embarrassment would take a while to fade...
"So, um," Mi-Yun started, trying to think of something to say, "What do you like to do besides music? Do you shop? Or vacation?" She tilted her head and looked over at the pretty blonde. Everyone loved to shop and vacation, right?! She thought she'd start it off easy. |

"I'm still figuring out what I like to do. There's a lot of new things to try here," Melody admitted to Mi-Yun. It wasn't just another country, it was a totally different culture, and no amount of zany animes she watched with subtitles had ever prepared her for it. At least she'd studied enough to get by, right?
The walk was pretty relaxing, all things considered. It wasn't every day you made a new potential friend by getting injured because of them. That was one of those stupid things that only happened in stories. The very thought made Melody chuckle. "I play a few video games. I've window shopped a time or two since I came here. My parents can afford vacations, but not me. I've got no job just yet." Not that she'd probably have time the way her schedule was going! Ugh! She was going to have to rely on monthly allowances from London.
"What about you? I bet you have a much better idea of what you like around here. I mean, I just moved here, right?" Wow, it would be embarrassing to Melody if she'd assumed completely wrong. She'd put her foot in her mouth more than once with assumptions about people.
