Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ For once, Caia hadn’t expected the girl’s joke. It was proving a little hard to get a straightforward answer out of her. Her playful way of carrying on the conversation was pretty cute though, in Caia’s opinion. Maybe she was the “questioning” type, but still, she hadn’t really said anything directly yet. If she had to chase information out of the girl, Caia knew that she would at least get a few more jokes out of her trying, which made it pretty fun. She would go along with it.
Her fingertips flipped through the bills in her wallet as she listened to the girl. It was obvious that she didn’t misunderstand the vending machine date concept. Even if she did seem gullible, no one could be that foolish. Caia pulled a bill from her wallet to pay for her own drink. ”These vending machines are alright, I guess. Not exactly my type though.” She smiled, looking up at the vending machine selections as she took the bill and inserted it into the machine with a few coins. ”The girls I usually go for tend to be a little more… human, at least. Nicer, warmer bodies.” She pressed a button on the machine, selecting a sports drink. Once it came out, she stuffed her wallet back into her pocket and retrieved her drink.
"Besides…" she said, twisting the cap off of the sports drink, ”Don’t you think that the vending machines are kinda easy…? Insert money and they’ll give you whatever you want.” Caia closed her eyes and shook her head, chuckling softly to herself. Probably not something she should be discussing with an innocent first year. It was still a funny comparison though. She lifted her drink to her lips and took a big swig, tilting her head back to down quite a bit of it. Copying the little lieutenant’s actions, she lowered her head with the bottle once done and exhaled loudly before wiping her lips. She then stuck her tongue out at the girl just a bit, teasing her for her dramatic body language.

The girls Caia went for were more human. Yumi registered what she'd said, but she didn't react either way, just giggling along with the joke good-naturedly. "But I hear it's so hard to find a date who wants to hold your drink for you as much as vending machines do!" She spun around before leaning against the vending machine, gripping her drink in both hands as she sipped. She relaxed for a short moment, eyes closed peacefully as she took another swig. it didn't last long; her energy returned along with the view of her sparkling eyes.
"No one likes an easy lover~" Yumi practically sang the lines, swaying back and forth with a big grin on her face. She took another quick gulp of her drink. "Romance wouldn't be any fun if that was all you needed to do. Half the fun of the movies is that you never know what it will take for the main characters to get each other's attention. Even if you do know they will." She nodded to herself. She was an expert on romance media; she didn't necessarily act like it, but she adored romance, though her sister hated it. She was also terriefied of the horror genre Miyu loved.
Yumi stuck her tongue out at Caia in return for the action before gulping down the rest of her drink. "Aw. That went too fast," she complained aloud before tossing the drink at the trash can. It bounced off of the rim twice before falling back out. The girl moved to pick up the bottle, dunking it this time for good measure. She then spun around to face Caia, her grin as big as ever. "Does the Captain have more preferences than just being a live girl?"

Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ Caia furrowed her eyebrows and watched the girl with a half-smile on her face. She was practically bouncing off of the walls. Although, they were outside, so maybe just bouncing off of the vending machines. Soccer must not have slowed her down or tired her out at all. Or maybe it was the drink that got her started again. She could only chuckle once more and lift the drink to her lips again, taking another sip.
She leaned against the side of the vending machine and slipped her free hand back into her pocket, still managing to listen to the girl, whose words were all over the place. Maybe she was just naïve enough to get confused by the concept of vending machine dates if she had missed Caia’s joke. She let out a defeated, breathy laugh with her bottle still held to her lips. ”That type of easy lover isn’t looking for money, lieutenant.” Deciding to let the joke go, Caia simply shook her head. It wouldn’t be funny anymore and might even be awkward if she had to explain such a salacious joke to the girl.
Caia licked her lips after another sip from the bottle, her eyes glued to a group of girls running around on the field in gym class. Her attention went back to the hyper girl once she heard her ask about preferences in girls. The dark-skinned girl glanced over at her through half-lidded eyes, a somewhat sly smirk finding its way on her lips for a moment. Normally, only girls who were interested in her asked such questions to see if they were her type, but Caia was sure that the girl was innocent in asking. ”Why do you ask? You want to set me up with someone? Maybe you…?” She snickered and let her gaze scan the girl’s body from her face down to her feet, secretly hoping that she wouldn’t take the playful flirting seriously. It would be awkward to get rejected by Yumi based on a joke, she thought. ”Actually, I don’t think I have any preferences. I think I could fall for any girl if I was comfortable enough around her."

Why had Yumi asked? Hm, well that was a tough question, and one Yumi was apparently expected to answer! Especially since maybe it was her who she was setting Caia up with! No wait, that wasn't right... As the words passed through her brain and she had a split second to think about it, she realized that no, that wasn't what either of them had meant; Caia had been joking and Yumi had just been asking a question. Yumi couldn't help but giggle at the girl's almost proposition, certain as she was she hadn't meant it. "Just because we're on a vending machine date doesn't mean I'm trying to set you up with me, Captain! Maybe I'm scouting for romantic talent because I'm also a renowned love expert!"
Yeah... she'd just made up yet another fake persona for the sake of amusing herself in a conversation. This was par for the course for Nezu Yumi, and it took some getting used to. Especially considering nearly everyone who had been used to her in the past weren't exactly going to Fukui now. She leaned over and nudged Caia equally playfully. "So now I know to look for a live girl who you're comfortable with!"
Yumi stretched, placing her hands behind her head. If it seemed like she was easy to encourage, that was probably because she was. "Well currently that seems to be me, but that's just now how that's supposed to work here in the business, eh Captain? Hmm... I feel like there's a conflict here. That's not how talent scouting is supposed to work!" She couldn't help but chuckle again there. Psh. Her dating a girl. She was apparently neck deep in the lesbian side of Fukui, but that had been more of an accident, right? Her talents were better used finding love for other people!

Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ Caia grinned just before taking one last swig from her sports drink, finishing it off. Still not denying she’s into girls, at least. It was almost as if the girl was avoiding the subject of her sexuality, just like many other girls had around Caia. She was sure that Yumi was just wanting to keep joking around though. It kept the mood lighter, which was good.
She swallowed the last gulp of the drink and wrapped an arm around the smaller girl’s waist, holding her close to her side after the playful nudge. ”Well, lieutenant, this is my first vending machine date. And so far, I’d say I’m most comfortable with you.” She started off away from the area, moving the girl along with her and tossing her empty bottle into the trash on her way. If they stuck around for too long on that side of the building, surely one of the gym teachers would come and scold them for loitering. That was probably another reason why no one had their vending machine dates at those machines. They were starting to attract the attention of people anyway. Yumi wasn’t the quietest, most collected person after all.
”It sounds like you’re an expert on pretty much everything, so I’d be set for life with you around. Pop stars are well sought after…” She rounded the corner of the building with Yumi still held in her arm and her eyes for. ”So who knows? Maybe if senpai steps it up a little and makes the next vending machine date a little more romantic and intimate, there won’t be any need for a ‘love expert’. I’m up for that challenge.” Again, she was just teasing the girl. Most girls would have been flustered by now, but Yumi was proving to be quite the challenge. She peered down at the girl and stuck her tongue out, winking to show that she was only teasing again.

"I told you Captain, I'm the expert and we matched up that way. I guess that's just how data works." She gave Caia a quick peace sign with her grin as a way of saying she wasn't taking Caia's words the wrong way. The smaller girl was beginning to see where this might turn into actual flirting, but she wasn't really the type to stop it. What was the harm in flirting? If anything, someone flirting with her was flattering whether she had any real interest or not, right? Why anyone would see it otherwise was a foreign concept to her.
Caia kept going though, saying she was an expert on everything, so she'd be pretty set for life with someone like Yumi. She was right though, who wouldn't want to date a pop star? unless you hated pop music. But why would you hate pop music? Wait... was she going on about something about winning Yumi over? This caused her to let out a nervous chuckle for once. "Well, that'd be true yeah." Caia was obviously still joking, but she was pressing pretty hard. Normally Yumi was the one doing the pressing.
"I suppose that'd make me pretty successful. Cutting out my potential client's need for the middle girl!" Wait, was that possible in this scenario? Meh, details and facts were tedious, really. It was the fun of their teasing that was important. "Geeze, I really am an expert in everything! Maybe my new title should be Yumi, Expert Extraordinaire!"

Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ Caia quirked an eyebrow while looking down at the younger girl. This time, she fully expected the girl to come out and draw the line. Instead, she went along with the playfully cocky flirting. Caia wasn’t complaining though. Even if it was just harmless flirting, the girl wasn’t turning her down.
”So, based on your own data, you’re my match?” She clicked her tongue and shook her head slowly, in a jokingly shaming manner. ”What a corrupt business you run. I can’t blame you if you want me all to yourself though.” Shrugging her shoulders, she finally released the loose grip she had on the smaller girl’s waist and stopped just around the corner of the building.
There was still quite a bit of time left before she needed to head to her next class, so Caia leaned back against the side of the building, shoving her hands back into her pockets. Normally, she would be loitering on the rooftop playing games on her cellphone, but she was having fun talking to Yumi. There was no reason to leave just yet. ”On a lighter note, the spring festival is coming up. Do you have any plans for then, lieutenant-chan?”

"Hey I can't help if my data says something I didn't mean for it to say," Yumi waved off with a chuckle. She'd noticed that Caia was still holding onto her, but considering the fact that Yumi lacked a sense of personal space after spending her life with her twin, it didn't really bother her. She moved to stand in front of Caia when she leaned against the wall, her hands propped up behind her head in a kind of relaxed stretch. "It's not every day such an inspiring captain shows up," she reasoned partly in-character. "Maybe I just need someone like you around more."
It wasn’t exactly a flirt. It wasn’t turning down flirting either. Which is probably what led to the next question, though Yumi wasn’t exactly thinking of it in the way it may or may not have been meant. “Do I have plans?” Yumi had planned to go there with her twin, find some people to hang out with, and have some fun. She’d also planned to get Miyu and sing a song or two as part of the entertainment.
She thought for a moment. “Not really, Captain Caia-Senpai,” she decided with a shrug of her shoulders and a slight shuffling of her feet. “Why? Did you have some sort of plans?” Yumi’s expression turned curious. She’d made a new friend rather quickly. It was fun, considering she did think Caia was fun to hang out with.

Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ Caia shrugged her shoulders in response to the girl. At her old school, she usually didn’t participate in these kinds of things. There were always weird requests made to her as far as participation in festivals went. One year, she had even been asked to participate in some sort of “host club” type event. It probably wouldn’t have been so bad if all of the guys participating weren’t mangy looking. Granted, she was a lesbian and hated most guys, so that kind of contributed to her hatred of the idea.
Actually, when she really thought about it, she had avoided most school events before Fukui. Between violin, bass guitar, tutoring, and her personal hobbies, there wasn’t much time or interest in attending anything at school that wasn’t mandatory. Thinking back on it, it was a good trade, her social life sacrificed for her own hobbies, considering how things played out at her old school.
”I wasn’t going to go, but the more I hear people talking about it, the more I think I should check it out at least.” She pulled her cellphone from her pocket and began casually swiping through pages of applications. ”I hated the idea of it at my old school since it was co-ed and guys are irritating, but now that I’m here, in an all-girls school, maybe it could be fun, you know?” She kept her listless gaze fixated on her phone as she vigorously tapped away at her screen, playing some game.

While Caia talked, Yumi was nodding along enthusiastically. Of course it'd be more fun! Yumi already had fun plans built up in her head. This was a spring festival event and there would be so many fun things to do, from singing to... well who knew what else? Maybe the culinary students would have something delicious for her to eat! Yeah that'd be great. Who had time for boys anyway? The all-girls school thing just meant it'd probably be more interesting than her old school... maybe even less awkward than when the girls all flailed around hoping some boy would notice them and-
"Yeah it'll be fun! There'll be food and music and who doesn't like music? I'll probably try to sing at some point, and-" at about that time her words and her previous thoughts synced up and there was a literal half-second pause before she blurted out the next sentence. "Wait! You're asking me about plans because you want a girl date to the event, aren't you?!" She honestly sounded surprised... probably because she was. What was she supposed to do about that? She liked Caia. Not like... well Yumi was pretty sure she was straight and all.
The smaller girl suddenly looked very contemplative, in an exaggerated 'girl-pretending-to-be-puzzling-out-something-major' kind of way, complete with chin resting in fingers. "Well, I did claim we were a perfect match earlier, and my instincts are never off," she decided. "Besides, what kind of future pop star disappoints her greatest fans? And if you're asking me this, then that would make you my greatest fan. Well, except for maybe Miyu but we're sisters so it doesn't count."
Yumi nodded to both herself and Caia. She was open-minded. She could enjoy a festival with a girl as easily as a guy. She'd once been told this was a time in her life where she needed to test her boundaries more than ever anyway, and she tried to do that every day.

Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ A small smile formed on Caia’s lips as she listened to Yumi. Maybe working up to the question wasn’t the best approach. The girl had caught on pretty quickly without her even having to ask, much to her disappointment. At least that spared her the pain of having to ask Yumi out on a date. After all, it wasn’t that she was madly in love with the girl just yet. She was just a lot of fun to hang around and was a pretty lively person, so of course Caia thought she would be the perfect guide to an all-things-spring-festival type tour. Or, date.
Her expectations for the event, weren’t too high. Most of the activities at spring festivals were things she felt like she could do without. Low-budget games that were probably rigged, the same people preforming music that any music student could hear them practicing for weeks before, people in wonky costumes with uncomfortably bad and unconvincing acting skills… And then there was always the obligation to try and have fun, to not feel like you were wasting your time if you attended. It wasn’t really the best idea for a date in her opinion, and it was almost the worst, but it would do. Plus, if Yumi managed to help her enjoy their dreadful soccer game, there probably wasn’t much that she couldn’t make pleasant.
”Heh, I never said that. I was actually planning on attending on my own.” Even as she spoke, she opened the contact book in her phone and handed it off to the small girl. ”But I suppose I can pass on picking up cute girls then to hang out with you. I guess you’re pretty cute too, so it works out. She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, trying to play it cool still while keeping her typical neutral expression on her face.

It was funny. Yumi didn't really see girls in a romantic light... but that didn't mean she couldn't appreciate being, well, appreciated. The event was something she was excited for. She'd hardly considered going there with a date, considering it was an all-girl's school and she was admittedly rather into boys. It was hard to turn down a friend who was calling her cute, though.... and well, that was exactly waht was happening.
Yumi grinned a big grin, chuckling. "You should see me in a stage dress," she wasn't really bragging, more joking... though she did think she was pretty cute in a proper costume for her songs. Well, that was what her imaginary fans told her, so why not believe them? She didn't have a proper opinion, herself. Her looks had only been her concern as far as looking nice for the right people.
Was a date with a girl she had just become friends with considered the right people? Yeah she supposed so. "But I mean, sure, I can't turn down someone nice enough to take notice of me, now can I?" She did a little twirl, as if showing off her 'cuteness' before stopping and standing there with her hands clasped behind her back. "What does one wear to a girl date? Uniforms not withstanding I'd hate to embarrass a date by wearing the exact same thing. Though you'd probably show me up if we did anyway." she shrugged nonchalantly despite the compliment. She couldn't forget she was holding onto Caia's cell phone either, so she quickly input her number. "Here you go!" This was a weird turn of events. She had her first date. And it was with a girl. At least she considered herself open-minded.

Oh girl, it's true I can never be away from you It's like you gloss your lips with glue Oh we kiss and I am ❖ ❖ ❖ s t u c k t o y o u ❖ ❖ ❖ Caia blinked upon the mention of a stage dress. She could only imagine three types related to pop star types: The loud, shiny, sequin type that had probably been out of style for decades, the frilly, pseudo-lolita style that a lot of idols wore these days, or the sexier type of dress. Images of the smaller girl in all three flashed through her head. It probably wasn’t the sexy one... She quickly shook the image from her head.
Caia focused on the girl once again, just in time to hear her ramblings about what to wear for the date. She was thinking a lot further ahead than Caia was, that’s for sure. She had only been on a few dates before, or at least they were outings that could have been considered dates. Normally, she just chose to wear anything. It wasn’t like they were going to some fancy restaurant or anything. She did have the option of possibly wearing a costume, but she wasn’t really the costume type usually, unless it was something really cool like armor. But that probably would have ruined the date.
She peered down at the girl, her eyebrows raised. ”Uh, I think you’ll be safe. I doubt there’s any possibility that you and I would end up in the same clothing.” She looked the girl up and down. Even judging by their choices in what they wore as their uniform, it seemed pretty obvious that Caia’s style was a lot more boyish than Yumi’s was. ”Yeah, you’re safe, so wear whatever you want. I’m not hard to please.” She smiled, taking her phone back from the girl.
By now, it was quickly approaching the time for her to head off to her new class, and she still needed to stop by her dorm room to grab her books. It had been fun hanging out with her little lieutenant, but Caia was sure the girl needed to be elsewhere too. She opened up a message on her phone, texting a winking smiley to Yumi so she could have her number.
”Anyway, we should probably head off before someone catches word of two loitering students. I have class in a bit anyway.” She pushed herself up off of the wall with her elbows and gave the girl a gentle pat on her head, her other hand stuffing the phone back into her pocket. ”Text me later, okay?” With that, she waved to the girl as she stepped back and rounded the corner to make her exit.
